The 3 C’s: Cares, Concerns, and Celebrations

Every Friday I’m going to start doing a 3 C’s post. Hope you enjoy!

Celebrations:
Today is my first day of summer vacation. I have nine glorious weeks to spend with my baby boy. No waking up, getting him ready, dropping him off at day care, and rushing off to work. It’s a wonderful, wonderful feeling.

My husband and I are celebrating our five year anniversary. It’s crazy to think we’ve been married for five whole years. It sure doesn’t feel that long!

Cares:
To raise awareness, please go visit Marybeth’s blog to learn about a rare, incurable disease affecting her nephew, Jacob.

Concerns:
I’m not quite sure if this should be a concern or a celebration. Brogan can crawl! He started Monday night. While it never gets old to watch, I can already tell this will be a summer filled with “chase the baby”.

I went running today for the first time in five months and I couldn’t make it more than a mile and a half. The weirdest thing… my legs weren’t sore, but my arms were killing me! Isn’t that odd? In my glory days (in college), I used to run seven miles six days a week. Boy has that changed! I even ran the Madison City Marathon.

All 3:
This last one is all three because I care about it, I’m concerned about it, and I’m not sure if I should celebrate it. I completely changed the beginning of Beneath a Velvet Sky. I cut the first two chapters and started at chapter three. For the life of me, I cannot decide if this was an improvement or not. I’m too close to the story to tell. While I sift through my thoughts and try to decide, chapters one and two are waiting in a separate file.

Question to Ponder: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations on this beautiful Friday afternoon?removetweetmeme

Congrats on your 5-year anniversary! So crazy. And I can't believe Brogan is crawling…how exciting! Just in time for you to be home to chase him all over the place. Who needs to go running when you have a crawling baby? When do you think you'll come out for a visit?!

    Hey, Katie,

Fun Idea! I can't wait to see what your creativity sparks each Friday.

Cares: For my MIL and the family during her illness.

Concerns: That I'll be able to balance everything.

Celebration: That God is good, All the time! His mercies are new every morning.

Hi Kelly! Welcome to my blog! I'm glad you're finding it helpful. There's a pretty cool community of writers around here. Many of us are in the same boat… writing, seeking publication, and trusting. Finding time to write is an ongoing struggle! I hope you come back often. πŸ™‚

    Hi Katie!

I just found your blog yesterday and I've gone back reading a bit about you. I relate to you quite often, especially about wanting more time to write. I've just started my own blog, hoping it will insprire me to write more! Thanks for sharing all your writing hopes and successes! It's nice to know there is someone out there who knows how scary and wonderful this whole writing experience can be.

Sherrinda – you can do it Sherrinda! I know you can! I'm imagining myself with pom-poms right now, cheering you on. I never was a cheerleader though… I would've been really bad. πŸ™‚ And yay for summer vacation! Isn't it the best?

Cindy – progress is always good! And I love your care. I'm going to echo that one for myself!

Congrats on 5 years and a precious, crawling little one! Fun times, for sure.

Yesterday was my last full day of work for the summer. I am working summer school this year, but that is only until 11:30am, 4 days a week, through June. Not bad…and good pay!

My concern is to FINISH MY WIP!!! I must, I must! lol

Katie, what a fun idea! Congratulations on the anniversary and the crawling. I can't believe you used to run seven miles a day. It makes me tired just thinking about it.

Celebrations: Let's see…I am finally making some progress on a WIP that needed to be revised. I am hoping it will work out and be much improved from the first draft.

    Concerns: Marketing. Ugh…

Cares: I want to make a difference with my writing and do it in God's name. It means a lot to me that the right people are reached with my writing. I am praying for that!

Thanks for sharing with us what's going on in your life right now.

Oh this is fun!! I LOVE hearing everybody's 3 C's!! It helps me get to know you all better!

Wendy – halarious reference to the Matrix. I so totally know what you are talking about.:) And CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Writing for a magzine! That's so awesome girl! I'm doing a little happy dance for you!!

Thanks T. Anne! A lot of people comment on Brogan's name. They always ask if it's a family name. But it's nothing as cool as that. We just found it in a baby book and liked it. πŸ™‚

MaryBeth – I'm happy to help any way I can! That video really touched my heart… made me cry, actually. And it made me go hug the Brog-man. I hope God answers your prayers and that awareness will be raised!

Jody – I covet your prayers! Being a SAHM would be a dream come true. Honestly, the main reason I care so much about publication is so I could make some sort of income to be able to stay at home. I will write no matter what – publication or no. I think the reason I put pressure on myself to get published is because I want to stay home so badly! I will return the prayers and pray that you get your book edited quicker than you anticipate! Thanks for sharing your journey on your blog – it is so exciting to read!!

And update – I readded my first chapter. Cut chapter two. I'm starting to really like the changes now! Still subject to change of course.

I'm so happy that you get some time off for the summer! Still praying God will help make a way for you to stay home with Brogan! And happy anniversary!

My concern: Finish getting my book edited and to Rachelle before she gives up on me!

    Have a great weekend!

Celebration – Super excited you posted that link… it means the world to me!!!

Concerns – I'm thinking I might need to remove my first two chapters too πŸ™

Cares – For my nephew and Family and finding a cure. Even if it can't help us, hopefully it will help another family!

Good luck with the crawling thing. It is a blessing and a curse all in one. Hope it goes well!!!

Again thanks! And have an awesome weekend!!!

cares: I want to keep handing my writing to God and have Him hand it back if/when/how He wants…in whatever form…I want it to be for His glory!
concerns: my husband is not in love with his job and I want to remove the stresses from him, in the same way Trinity took that thing out of Neo in The Matrix.
