3 C’s – It’s Friday!

These are coming much too fast. Summer needs to SLOW down!

Cares:
Brogan gets his glasses on Tuesday. He looks ridiculously cute in them.

Brogan has his nine-month check up today.

I started writing my fourth book yesterday, Wishing on Willows.

Concerns:
Keeping Brogan’s glasses on his face. Seriously, how is that going to happen?

Speaking of Brogan, the boy climbs on everything. He gets angry when we prevent him from climbing. He gets ecstatic when he reaches the top of something (stairs, sofa, end tables, you name it). He’s like a miniature Rocky Balboa, doing a little dance on top of the Philadelphia Art Museum steps.

I started writing my fourth book yesterday, Wishing on Willows.

Celebrations:
I have accomplished all of my summer goals except one, and that one won’t be accomplished for awhile. Two of my three stories are ready for submission. I created proposals and one-sheets for all three. I have business cards and a website. I’m on my 4th craft book and 4th fiction book this summer (my goal was two of each). And my outline for Wishing on Willows is pretty solid (though it still needs some work). While As High as the Heavens isn’t ready for submission, my lovely crit partner, Jeannie Campbell, is working her way through it. I feel a very wonderful sense of accomplishment.

I started writing my fourth book yesterday, Wishing on Willows.

Question to Ponder: What are you cares, concerns, and celebrations on this Friday morning?removetweetmeme

Tabitha – thanks! I'm glad you like the book title. I was really excited about it too. I usually get them from some sort of vision I have that I know will turn into a scene in the book. For Wishing on willows, it was my main character sitting beneath a Willow Tree.

Sherrinda! Such great news about your mom's surgery. Yay! And from your tweets, it souns like editing is going well. I can't believe summer is so close to being over.:(

Jeannette – I'm jealous of your new ofice chair. The computer chair we have is horendous, which is why I usually bring my laptop into bed and just type there. Prayers for your son and your friend. 🙂

You'll have to post one of these days on how you come up with your book titles. I love the title for your fourth book. I always struggle to come up with something and normally can't name a piece of writing until it is finished.
Well done on all you have accomplished!
Personally I am glad your summer is coming to a close because it means our winter is nearly over 🙂 I know, very selfish 🙂
But I love our summers and I know what you mean about them going too quickly.
Great post, Katie. Enjoyable as always.

Wow, Katie! You are amazing! Way to go on whipping through those goals! How awesome to say you are starting your FOURTH book! Way cool.

Cares: I want to get my first edits done before Aug.3, when I have to go back to work.
Concerns: Keeping my house clean ALL the time in case the house gets shown. Yikes…I'm sooo not good at that.
Celebrations: My mom's foot surgery was a success and she did not get nauseated afterward like she usually does…she was "chipper"!

  4. Jeanette Levellie

Wow! I'm so happy for you. And you got your fourth book started, three times! What fun!

Cares: My friend and her hus are going through a rough time, his work situation is not great.

Concerns: that my son gets a job in L.A. or finds a better plan B.

Celebrations: God gave me a new office chair today, for free! Yippee Dippee!

P.S. I would love to see a photo of Brogan in his glasses. I will pray he is safe in his climbing adventures!

Thanks T. Anne and Betsy! Betsy, I'm excited to get a hold of your book!! Thankfully, God's blessed me with a very, very laid back baby who goes to bed at eight each night, which gives me time to write. 🙂

Celebrate good times Katie!! Congrats! You've really conquered some big goals.

    Let's see,
Cares: I'm bogged down in website updates, preparing writing group presentations, and writing next week's blogs. My computer is annoying me.

Concern: I've focused on writing-related goals this week, but my family and my current revisions have suffered. I just needed to catch up!

Celebration: I'm 85% finished with the writing-related stuff! Next week, I'm back to revisions and my normal life!

    Have a great weekend!

First, let me say I’m exceedingly jealous of anyone who can accomplish so much…and so well. How do you do it? I’m here all day, by myself…and get nearly nothing done. Digital fiddling, I think. Anyway, Great Job, Katie…you little accomplisher you.

Cares…Ensuring my wife is happy and comfortable.

Concerns…Selling our raketyfasd, a*^&%V%344 house in Seattle.

    Celebrations…Aforementioned house is—dare I say it—(small whisper) nearly sold.(mid-August)

    Best regards, Galen

Thanks Jody! ABout the business cards, I will find the website I published from and see if I can somehow send you a picture of them from the website. Be on the look out for an email later today. And my prayers are with you while you are in limbo… I can imagine that is TOUGH!

Eileen – I hear ya with the cares and concerns. Don't you wish we had an extra four or five hours every day. Maybe we could just say "Time Out" Zach Morris style and work on our writing. Then say "Time In" and spend time with our family?

Heather – I will pray for safe travels! Have a happy and blessed reunion! 🙂

Wendy, that's AWESOME about your celebrations! How exciting! Is one of them the CFOM short story? I can't wait to read it! Here's to lots of time with your kids!

Marybeth, I love getting organized, I think it's the teacher in me. Sorry about all the conerns. No fun! I wish none of needed sleep…like a certain vampire we know.

Elizabeth, so you work best under time pressure, ay? Were you one of those procrastinators that had to wait until the last minute to get her homework done? I used to be in highschool. Then I did a complete one eighty in college and have been a big time get it done early type of gal. I hope time is on your side this weekend!

Jeannie! Prayers are with you for safe travels, girl! And about the job situation. No worries about AHAH. I'm not in a hurry. I'm pumped that you're going to help me with it though. 🙂

Ralene – yay for routines! I adore routines. I live for routines. Does this mean I'm boring? I will keep the family health issues in my prayers.

Jessica – I will for sure post pictures on Tuesday when he gets them. My hubby and I say the EXACT same thing. "We;re going to have a little Jerry MacGuire kid in our house." He looks quite adorably studious in his glasses. Makes me wnat to pinch his cheeks. 🙂 And how funny about the balloon! that's a big word. 🙂

  14. Jessica

Wow, go you on the book stuff! Amazing. 🙂 I don't know if you post personal pics or not, but I bet he looks adorable with those glasses on! Everytime I think of a little kid with glasses I remember the kid in Jerry McGuire.
    🙂

Cares: My husband is a realtor. 🙂 Self-explanatory, lol!
    Concerns: marketability of my wip
Celebration: my youngest said "balloon" 🙂

hey girl. i'll get back to work on AHAH when i get back to MS…promise.

as for cares and concerns, we're traveling back to MS on Sunday from NY. it's been a great visit. i'm exhausted, of course. so i'll need plenty of energy (or just caffeine) to get me through a trip that long.

for celebrations, i've found a series of books that i think i'm in love with. it's the shopaholic series. no joke…busting out laughing through the whole thing! she's got such a great voice. (not a christian world-view, but you can still learn so much.)

  19. Wendy @ All in a Day's Thought

    Hi Katie,
I loved how the writing of your fourth book fell into all three catagories and you should pat yourself on the back for the celebrations or better yet go celebrate.

Cares: Needing more sleep lately and to pour huge amounts of attention into my kids.

Concerns: Praying for an old friend about something

Celebrations: VBS ends tonight with a big bang celebration. Two of my writings will be published in Aug. I'm developing strong ideas for books 3&4.

Hope you know His blessing this weekend, Katie.

Katie, awesome news about the fourth book, and yeah, so often my cares, concerns and celebrations share a lot in common too.

  22. Jody Hedlund

Oh, wow!!! You have accomplished so much!! What a celebration! And congrats on starting your fourth book–I love the title!

I'd love some of you blogging friends who have business cards to post a picture of how yours looks and tell how/where you got them done. I need to do this yet and don't have a clue how to start!

My concern is that I'm still in limbo! The waiting is very hard some days!
