Summer Break

Beach toysI don’t know about you, but I think summers are best spent outdoors in bare feet. Running through sprinklers. Going to the park. Reading in the shade while my son digs for treasure. Catching lightning bugs when its dark.

So this is what I shall do.

And when I’m not enjoying the aforementioned activities above, I’ll be plugging away on various writing projects.

What does this mean?

It means I’m taking an extended blogging break for the remainder of the summer. A sabatical, if you will. As someone who hasn’t taken a blogging break this long since I started back in 2009, me thinks this is long overdue. Sometimes, you just need to recharge, you know? It’s good for the soul. In fact, I might just make this a yearly tradition. No blogging in the summer. We’ll see how it goes!

Praying the remainder of your summer days are filled with joy and blessings and drippy ice cream cones!

If you want to say hi, I’ll still be around my author Facebook page and Twitter. Would love to connect with you there.

Let’s Talk: What’s your favorite summer time activity?

The Christy Awards!

archHello from St. Louis!

Tonight, I’ll be hanging out with authors, editors, and agents at the Christy Awards Banquet.

My debut novel, Wildflowers from Winter, is a finalist in the contemporary romance category, alongside Kristin Heitzmann and Irene Hannon.

If you’d like to follow along online, you can! Just click on this link for more details.

Wildflowers from Winter was also a Christian Retailing’s Best finalist. I about choked on my coffee when I saw my name tagging along after Karen Kingsbury and Dee Henderson. Still makes me chuckle, in fact. Winners will be announced at the International Christian Retail Show tomorrow morning. I won’t be able to make it, though, since I’ll be on the road, headed back to my two boys.

I’m beyond humbled and honored to be nominated for both of these awards. Truly.

If you want to check out pictures, I’ll be posting them on my Facebook page!

Happy Memorial Day & a Schedule Change

flagHappy Memorial Day! With a special shout out to all those courageous men and women who fight or have fought for our freedom here in America. God bless you!

This marks the beginning of summer.

Maybe not technically, since summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21st.

But in my world, and I suspect in many a people’s worlds, summer runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

So thus marks the beginning of my new summer schedule.

Why a new schedule?

Because who has time to stay indoors, writing (or reading, for that matter) blog posts, when there are sprinklers to run through and lightning bugs to chase and ice cream cones to enjoy? Not to mention, a new book to work on!

In an effort to free up some time, I will only be posting twice a week in these summer months.

Once on Monday, in which I will post on a slew of various topics, including but not limited to writing news, faith-related topics, adoption updates, and of course, romance.

And then once on Friday, in which I will continue on with my Friday Favorites.

There you have it. The new schedule.

Here’s to a fun-filled, fabulous summer!
