Friday 3 C’s

B-man with his dinosaur claw hunting for raptors (we haven’t found any yet)

Cares:
Ryan goes back to work next week. I’m glad he’s all better, but I’ll miss having him at home!

Mrs. Mommy Booknerd is giving away 2 copies of my debut novel on her blog. So if you’re a fan of FREE stuff, hop on over and enter.

Our adoption agency has a blog. Cool, huh?

Concerns:
Tipsy (our beta fish) has been acting a little tipsy, if ya know what I mean. Not sure how long she’s going to last. Brogan keeps saying, “She won’t get dead!” Yesterday he said, “Do you promise she won’t die?” And I was all, “Buddy, I can promise you she will die. We all will die.” I was getting philosophical with my 3 year old.

Celebrations:
I turned in my revised manuscript for Wishing on Willows this week!

I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it. I’ll be hanging out in Colorado Springs next week for a Waterbrook Multnomah author retreat. Because I’ll be mostly out of town, I won’t be blogging. So that means I’ll see you peeps on Monday, the 13th.

Let’s Talk: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations this week?

  1. Eeek! An author retreat sounds amazing! I get philosophical with my boys too. lol I’m so glad Ryan is better enough to work. Hope you have an amazing weekend, girlie. 🙂

  2. Ganise

    Have a safe trip, Katie!
I pray for all of you who are having concerns today (yes, including the fish), we have everything INCLUDING answers in Him. (Col. 2:10).

Your do an excellent job on your blog, Katie.

    🙂

  3. Ah, yes, all the little fishies eventually have to get flushed…some sooner than others! That’s why we have no fish anymore. However, bigger pets die too! Sad lesson in life.

I just want to Celebrate that Becky Doughty did such a stand-out amazing blog post over at my blog today about the topic of Christian Wicca. I was so encouraged to see the participation in the comments–helps me narrow down my blog demographic!

Concerns: Hubby still jobless and searching for the RIGHT job. Still praying for my proposal that’s STILL out on submission..sigh.

And Cares: Hmmm. Can’t think of anything pressing!

Thanks for this chance to share, Katie, and praying you guys have a GREAT retreat!!!

  4. Tipsy is getting tipsy… I know it’s a concern, so I’m trying to bite my tongue from laughing!

and HAVE FUN on your trip!!!! That sounds amazing!!!!

Cares: I am sitting on my bed, reading blogs, instead of doing the laundry that is piled up all around me. I really do need to care about laundry more….

Concerns: I’m officially in “prepare for book launch” mode and am having some major “holy cow what if this all flops” kind of anxiety, on top of being so busy I can barely think!

Celebrations: My 4 star RT review this last week made me smile. So does the fact that I finally bit the bullet and registered for ACFW. WOOT!

  5. Have a wonderful retreat, Katie! Wish I was the editor for Wishing on Willows. I’m sure it’s great.

  6. Ok. What I want to know is how on earth am I supposed to fit “I’ll be hanging out in Colorado Springs next week for a Waterbrook Multnomah author retreat.” into the next line of that song?

    I’m so excited,
And I just can’t hide it,
I’ll be hanging outinColoradoSpringsnextweekforaWaterbrook Multnomah author retreat….

Cares: Guest-blogging on Heather Day Gilbert’s blog about my journey through the shadowy valley of Christian witchcraft. Praying that my story will bring HIM glory and help to open up this taboo subject.

Concerns: That it’s August already and still don’t have my MS ready to query. That it’s August and it’s hot and hubby is working too hard with too much on his plate.

Celebrations: Another song for you. “Celebrate Jesus, celebrate!” (Do you know that if you put a comma after the first celebrate it totally changes the meaning of this song…..)

    Blessings to you today!

  7. I’m home. After 3 1/2 days of trying to go from Oklahoma to New Brunswick. My suitcase is in Newark, New Jersey. I have 8 boarding passes….

    1. Katie Ganshert

Jennifer! Craziness! So glad you made it home safely. Cannot wait to hear more about this research trip.

    2. Oh my word, but I’m so glad to hear you’re finally home, Jennifer! I was wondering about you…

      1. Aw thanks Heather! I was wondering about me too!

  8. Kinsey Christin

Cares: I want to have this baby already! Official due date isn’t until next Friday, 8/10, though my midwife said she wouldn’t be surprised if she came this weekend. Getting super excited, impatient, uncomfortable, irritable…the list goes on…

Concerns: Labor & Delivery (will my body do it on its own this time and will it be uncomplicated this time around?!) and the adjustment to a new “normal” in our family.

Celebrations: Baby and I are doing well, my body is showing signs of readying itself for L&D that it didn’t show last time, and thus, they’re not talking about inducing, even with gestational diabetes 🙂 However, it’s a bit discouraging to think it could be 3 more weeks before baby comes 😐

    1. Katie Ganshert

Ah, Kinsey, I’m sure the wait is so unbearable…..take comfort in the fact that you won’t be pregnant forever. Whether it’s three more days or three more weeks, this baby girl is coming!

  9. Yay for turning in your revisions!! That’s gotta feel good. Have fun in Colorado too.

Cares: Just felt kinda stressed lately. Lots on my plate and not a lot of end in sight to that.

Concerns: Must finish plotting my second book this weekend!

    Also, job situation.

Celebrations: I’m with Mel. It’s Friday!

    1. Boo for feeling stressed out. That’s no fun. 🙁 Hoping you get lots of great plotting done this weekend!

  10. Have fun at the retreat, Katie!

Our betta fish bit the dust a couple months ago. To show you how brilliant I am, I had no idea Finny had even gone to fish heaven until friends came to visit and one of the little boys came up to me and whispered, “Um, I think your fish is dead.” Yep, this is why we don’t have a dog…or a cat…or another fish. 🙂

    Happy weekend!

    1. That is hilarious that the boy whispered to you. Maybe our fishes can hang out in fishy heaven.

  11. Ooh, fun, enjoy your trip!!

Care: I’ve taken a couple weeks off writing, but am getting back into it this weekend. I’ve missed it–which is a good feeling!

Concern: An incredibly sick family friend and her hurting family.

    Celebration: It’s Friday!!!

    1. Katie Ganshert

Getting exited about writing is always a great feeling, Melissa! So sorry about your sick family friend. 🙁
