3 C’s – It’s Friday!

Cares:
On Thursday, July 5th, my husband will be donating his kidney to his younger brother.

Four of my old fifth grade students (who are now going into seventh grade) came over this week for a mini-writing camp. These girls are not only enthusiastic writers (and hilariously fun), but super talented. Way more talented than I was at that age! I’ve loved sharing advanced writing techniques with them.

Concerns:
Colorado and the fires. My publishing house, my agent, and some writing friends live in Colorado Springs. Praying for their safety and for all the heroic firefighters.

We are the proud new owners of a Beta fish named Tipsy. Or Sally. Brogan hasn’t made up his mind yet. Last night, I caught him feeding her goldfish crackers and markers.

Celebrations:
All the planning, all the time, all the energy was completely worth it. We raised one third of our adoption expenses at our fundraiser last weekend. So incredibly grateful to everyone who helped and participated!

Wildflowers from Winter was nominated for “Great Christian Fiction May Releases” on Clash of the Titles. If you enjoyed my debut novel and you have a minute, I’d love your vote!

My husband is nearly a perfect match and Brett gets a new kidney! So excited to see him healthy and freed from dialysis. I keep telling Brogan that his daddy is a hero.

Let’s Talk: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations this week? I love it when you share!

In celebration of Independence Day, and because we’ll be in the hospital, I won’t be blogging next week. Hope you have a happy Fourth of July!

  3. Dear Katie,

I missed 3 C’s Friday! 🙁 So this will just be a reply to your 3C’s from last week! 🙂

You have a lot of wonderful events happening in your life! I love the idea that you’ve decided to teach writing to your former students! I can see myself doing that too to the few who wanted to be writers when they grow up! 🙂

Can’t wait to find out what name your son has decided to call the family fish! 🙂

Your husband is a HERO! I will pray for him and you and his brother as he dontaes one of his kidneys this Thursday, July 5! What time will the surgery be so I can pray at that exact time?

Hope you’ll have a very happy 4th of July!

    God bless you, girl! 🙂

    Sincerely,

    Alexis

  4. Your little boy is such a cutie!

    1. Katie Ganshert

I have to agree, Julie. But I might be a little bias. 😉

  5. I’ll pray for your husband and his brother! I’m so happy for you guys about the fundraiser. Yay!

Cares – We’re trying to refinance and I’m hoping it is final this week and we can keep paying off our bills.

Concerns – My aunt was evacuated from Colorado Springs and I’m hoping her house is okay. My dad is still down there and dealing with smoke and ash. I’m praying for continued good weather to get this fire under control.

Also, my one-year-old has been sick with a fever of 102 and over for the last three days. Praying it ends soon and she can finally start feeling better.

Celebrations – I’m back on track with my WIP and almost 1/3 of the way through. I love progress and I’m really starting to love this story!

    Have a super weekend!

      Thanks for the prayers, Cindy!

Man, Cindy, prayers for your hubs and your aunt and your little girl. That is miserable when they are sick. Especially for so long! Hoping she gets better very soon!

YAY for progress on the WIP. That is great news!

  6. Cares-that I should care about something…I sat here for 5 minutes thinking about something deep and meaningful. Other than myself. I know, Beth Moore totally models my behaviour.
    Concerns-Colorado. Those poor people!
Celebration-Canada Day on July 1st, Happy 145 to my lovely country. AND Keli Gwyn’s release day is July 1st!

    1. Katie Ganshert

Happy Canada Day Jennifer! I’m so excited about Keli’s release! She is truly a giant blessing to so many people!

  7. Yay for your fundraiser and your husband’s donation. So cool.

Cares: Flying to Puerto Rico for our cruise. Don’t want any tropical storms!

Concerns: Colorado fires. Also, having patience with my writing career. God’s timing.

Celebration: Going on vacay! Much needed!!

    1. Have a fantastic time on your cruise!!!

    2. Katie Ganshert

SO SO SO fun Lindsay! Have fun on vacation! It sounds heavenly!

  8. Wow, Katie! What a crop of C’s this week! My prayers go out to your husband (he is a hero!) and your brother-in-law. I’m also keeping those in Colorado Springs in my prayers. And praise God that your fundraiser went well!! How awesome is that?!?!

Enjoy your blogging break this week – you need some time off. 🙂

    1. Katie Ganshert

Praise God indeed about the fundraiser. He sure is teaching me just how much energy I waste worrying about things. It truly makes no difference. My worry wouldn’t have made the fundraiser any better or worse. God had it under control – regardless of what would have happened. Thankfully, we had a great turnout!

  9. You guys are such an inspiration!!

    1. Katie Ganshert

Oh goodness, Jessica – maybe we look great on paper. But we’re generally a frazzled, goofy bunch in person. 😛

  10. Wonderful 3 C’s Katie! We need more heroes like your husband. So excited for you on so many fronts: your book’s success, the fundraiser support, your brother-in-law’s soon-to-be freedom from dialysis. It is amazing to step back and see God’s work in our lives. Remembering you in prayer, especially on July 5.

    1. Katie Ganshert

Thanks Julie! You’re so right. When I take a breath and step back and see how God is working in our family, it’s amazing to see His hand and His provision!

We sure do appreciate those prayers!

  11. Patti Mallett

Wow!! You have a LOT going on in your life (brain) right now!! Prayers will be going up from here for the Gansherts, especially for your hero hubby and his bro.

My Cares, Concerns, & Celebrations are One: Two of my kids and their families will be HERE tonight!!! Yay! Mimi is happy, but needs an extra supply of enerG. 🙂

    1. Katie Ganshert

Thanks for those prayers, Patti! I hope you’re having a BLAST with your children and their families! Sending you energetic thoughts!

  12. Your husband IS a hero! How wonderful he is doing that for his brother!! It brings tears to my eyes. When my husband’s brother was killed, his wife donated his organs. They were able to meet the man who got Craig’s kidney last year and this year the man walked his daughter down the aisle and they were there for that. It is a blessing to be able to save another’s life!

    1. Katie Ganshert

How amazing that you husband and sister-in-law got to meet the man who has Craig’s kidney! I’m hoping that made the pain a little less sharp.

  13. I am so, so, so excited for you guys that your fundraiser was successful!
Praying for your family in all the things you have going on. Praying especially for Ryan & his brother this next week.

Cares: I’m starting a new job as a course development specialist for an online university. It’s part-time, work from home, but that part-time in condensed into a lot of very close together deadlines.

Concerns: The wonderful people of CO and the fires there.

Celebrations: Hubby has been on a mission trip with our youth group all week– it’s going to be nice to have him home this weekend. 🙂

    1. Katie Ganshert

      Thanks for the prayers, Jenny!

I had no idea you were starting a job! I hope the transition goes well. I always remember how tough that first month was of teaching after the summer break. Happy that you get to work from home though!

Hope your reunion with your man is extra sweet!

  14. Oh man, where to start? So cool your husband is giving his kidney! So cool about your fundraiser!!! So cool about Tipsy (okay, I went a little too far on that one, but hey, Betas are cool).

Oh, and the writing class…also cool!

    Thinking about mine now…
Cares: Driving through NY traffic tom.
Concerns: Family dynamics can be hairy when the sisters get together. Praying for little to no drama! CO & the fires!!!
Celebrations: Loving my WIP. God is good like that. I celebrate all of your celes with you. I feel like that last sentence should have been spoken with an English accent.

    ~ Wendy

    1. Katie Ganshert

Wendy – WOOHOO for loving your WIP!! That’s the best feeling!

Praying for no drama and lots of good memories as you spend time with your fam!

Stay away from the crazy drivers in NYC!

      1. All the drivers in NY aren’t crazy, we’re just misunderstood! ;o) Praying for safe travel Wendy!

Praying for all that concerns each of you, knowing that the Lord has already noted them and that He is likely already moving on your behalf. That alone is good reason to celebrate.

Be blessed ladies. I always enjoy your posts Katie!

      2. Katie Ganshert

        Thanks Diana!

  15. Praying for your husband and his brother, Katie. Well all of you!

Cares:This week and next I’ll be making personal calls to everyone who has rededicated or made a first time commitment to Christ in our church to invite them to the new and growing believers class that starts July 11!

Concerns: I’m praying for rain for those in CO. I can’t even imagine.

Celebrations: My DH’s birthday is tomorrow! And I’m going back home next week or my great niece’s first birthday. Can’t wait to plant sugars all over those chubby cheeks! (I’m talking about my niece. ;))

    1. Katie Ganshert

      Thanks for those prayers, Jessica!

What fun phone calls you get to make! I love that work you do for the Kingdom and I love your heart for souls.

Happy birthday to your hubby! Happy cheek pinching!
