Battle Three: Resurrection Rolls

In honor of Easter, the third battle in the Pinterest War between Becky Wade and myself is…..

Resurrection Rolls!

Anybody ever make these before?

They’re a great Easter recipe to do with kids. The marshmallows melt when you bake, so when you break the rolls open, they are empty inside, just like the tomb!

All you need is a can of crescent dinner rolls, large marshmallows, melted butter, cinnamon, and sugar.

Separate the crescent rolls into triangles.

Mix the cinnamon and sugar.

Dip a large marshmallow into the melted butter, roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture, then wrap a crescent roll around the marshmallow. Make sure to pinch the seems together tightly.

Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes and voila!

So far, Becky’s eggs were prettier and her cake from last week wasn’t floating in a puddle of frosting, so I think she’s winning the war. Which means only one thing….time to get my roll-baking on. Pinterest War: Battle Two Results

In honor of the release of Wishing on Willows, Becky Wade threw down a celebratory cake challenge for the second battle of our Pinterest War. The results are in! In fact, the results are above.

Becky and I give this one a B- for the amount of effort required since it took some time and concentration.

A D for kid fun, since we both ended up doing this one solo.

An A- for beauty and resemblance to the original. (Okay, so I give Becky’s an A- for beauty and resemblance. I’m still not quite sure what to think about that puddle of frosting coagulating around the bottom layer of mine. I may or may not have decided to melt the frosting in the microwave and pour it on the cake instead of using an old-fashioned spatula. Hence, the blob cake.)

I also give myself an A+ for resourcefulness. Notice, my buttons are not really buttons. And I used floss. Also, chopsticks.

In fact, it’s a celebratory cake.

Becky is challenging me and YOU to recreate the cake above in celebration of the release of my second novel, Wishing on Willows, which hits stores tomorrow, March 19th!
