  1. I like to go out on the back porch and listen. Birds are funny, as well as the squirrels. 🙂

  2. I’m with Lindsay…bubble baths all the way! Love ’em!

  3. My favorite ways to slow down are taking walks and curling up in a Calgon-scented tub with a good romance.

  4. Turn everything OFF, Grab a cup of coffee or hot tea, head outside to sit on the back patio and just observe. Sounds. Sights. Birds. Flowers. Just being still to hear God’s whispers.

  5. Good post, Katie. I usually do some of the things others have already listed, like turning off the computer, reading the Bible (and other books), relaxing with a cup of tea or coffee, going outside playing with the kids (don’t have a dog). I wish I had a cemetery nearby like Wendy. I actually like cemeteries (the folks living there are always so peaceful and quiet). 🙂

  6. Painting or drawing…and, ironically, running.

I do my best thinking on a long run!

I love that running slows you down. It makes sense, in an odd way. Especially if you could run on some peaceful trails.

  7. A nice, hot bath. With a book. Yep. Love it!

  8. Walk outside. Or going outside to play with my dog.

Oh, and there is a graveyard along my walk…sort of puts a lot into perspective.

  9. Reading, reading my Bible, or turning the radio off when I’m driving.

Reading my Bible is like, the epitome of stillness. I love it.

  10. Coloring! I have a stack of fun coloring books and Crayola markers and crayons. 🙂

You have no idea how much I love this answer, Laura! That is quirky and incredibly fun! You should be a character in a novel.

Did you love coloring as a kid? I’m trying to get my kid to color more, but he’d rather pretend the crayons are rockets.

  11. I love to slow down by not going near my computer for the day. No blogging, no writing, no Facebooking (yes, I used that as a verb), no tweeting …
And another way to slow down that’s even better: going for a hike in the Colorado mountains.

Facebooking is totally a verb. 100%. Just like Google turned into a verb. Facebooking should definitely be in the dictionary by now.

You make me want to live in Colorado!

Happy Leap Day to you, Katie. I mentioned to someone today that everyone should get this day off, so I love your topic!

In warm weather, it’s the porch swing! Anytime, it’s crawl in bed with a good book and some type of hot tea, either herbal or my favorite Stash “White Christmas.”

Also, a long phone call to one of my soul sisters!

I wish everyone had Leap Day off too! I love the thought of you reading on your porch swing, Patti. 🙂
