3 C’s – It’s Friday

Cares:
My manuscript, scheduled to go to Pub Board in mid April, still hasn’t gone yet. Many of you might ask why? It’s mid June. Why does it take so long? Well, there are lots of reasons. When an editor takes a manuscript to Pub Board, it means two things: it passed editorial and they believe in the project. They want the book to make it. So timing is key. They have to consider things like the latest publishing trends, other books already in their lineup, what’s happening at their publishing house, etc. When all these things align in a positive way, my manuscript will go. I’m okay with waiting when I know it’s for the best.

Concerns:
Broggy-ogs is wheezing again. He also has a fever. We’re going to his pediatrician this morning to see if we can’t get to the bottom of this.

Since he’s sick, he cuddles on the couch and watches television. I have every Backyardigans song known to man stuck in my head. I’m dreaming about little pink ant-like creatures singing and dancing in my bedroom.

Celebrations:
I’m moving right along with my word count goal for the summer and hoping it continues.

We’re going on a triple date tonight.

An editor from a different publishing house is seriously considering my work. Serious has to be good, right?

Question to Ponder: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations today?removetweetmeme

I'm glad you've found out the reason for all the waiting and now find it easier to relax and let God control the timing. I was involved in filming a movie some years ago and the oft-heard phrase was, "hurry up and wait". I think writers memorize it very early in their careers, too.

I hope your little one is better soon.

Cares: Father's Day. It's irritating me this year.

Concerns: A friend had to let her kids go to their abusive dad for 10days. Pray hard!

I still haven't gotten my husband a present. And, I am still trying to get these edits done. My goal is at least a chapter a day. At least.

Katie, I just saw your tweet and had to dash over here for the news.

Sorry to hear about your little man. I hope the doctor is able to give you a diagnosis and get Brogan some help. May he experience a rapid recovery and soon be his energetic and slightly daredevil self–minus broken glasses, of course.

I'm soooo excited to hear that an editor from a different publishing company is seriously interested in your story. I'd love to see the two houses duke it out for the right to publish your debut novel.

Sorry to hear about Brogan. Are they thinking asthma? Griffin's a "wheezer" too. After nine bouts of bronchitis and two bouts of pneumonia we finally got him diagnosed and on a daily inhaler. He also has big-time allergies to tree nuts. I sure hope you guys can find out what is wrong. I know how scary that wheezing can be.

Congrats on meeting your writing goals!

Congrats on your novel going to the pub board.

My celebration: I sent my novel proposal to an editor three weeks ago. She sent it on to another editor in the house. No word yet, but no "No" either.

Concern: Discipline or lack thereof. How to attract people to my blog.

And oh yeah, finishing the novel!

  13. Wendy Delfosse

Congratulations! sounds like there's some good attention going to your work both in new interested and waiting on the right timing. Keep us posted!

Cares: Writing a new novel. Trying to get the right tone.
Concerns: My husband (&in-laws) business is in the slow season. Praying God will continue to provide as He always has. Also Hubby seems to be developing a slow allergic reaction to something.
Celebrations: Started a new novel & going to visit my Mom and family next week, Lord willing!

    Happy Friday to you!

May God give you the peace that you are writing for Him and let it transcend pub board and serious and all that stuff.

Oh, I pray your little one recovers soon!

Praise–The Spirit has oompahed and breathed on my writing for a couple of days. It's been glorious to compose together. Sigh. No, I haven't reread it yet!!

Concerns and Cares–A friend's 38 year old son is desperately ill with colon cancer. It is just so sad and breaks my heart.

    Serious is wonderful. πŸ™‚

As for Brogan, I'm glad you're taking him. If he was just wheezing, he'd probably be okay, but a fever is a bad sign. I'll be praying the doctors can fix him and that he'll get over this. πŸ˜‰
    Have a great day Katie!

  16. Laura Marcella

    Sounds very exciting! Congrats!

Cares: The Gulf oil spill. Breaks my heart all over again every time I see it on the news. :*(
Concerns: Trying not to eat all the brownies I just made before I get the chance to take them to my parents' today. πŸ˜‰
Celebrations: My hubby and my 2 year wedding anniversary is on Monday! <3 And of course spending time with my incredible daddy and dad-in-law on Sunday!

Have a fabulous weekend, Katie, and I hope your little one feels better soon!!!

I can't wait to hear when things go through for your book.

Cares: Making sure I spend enough time with Keira, my youngest.
Concerns: Making sure Keira understands not to shove Legos up her nose again.
Celebrations: Making sure I really celebrate when celebration is called for…not letting the praise roll off me to quickly as Jody's post mentioned yesterday.

    Have a great weekend.

Very exciting news about your book.

Hope your wee one feels better soon.

So sorry to hear about your little guy–been there, done that many times over when our youngest was small. Our son had upper respiratory infections constantly. Battled this for a few years until we went over our pediatrician's head to see a specialist who diagnosed him with allergies–dairy, corn, wheat, dust mites, and asthma. The asthma was so severe that it had bypassed stage 1 and was in stage 2. Our son was on allergy and asthma meds (5 daily) for over five years. Our pastor felt led to pray over him and anoint him with oil. His allergies and asthma tapered off. Now he's med free except the occasional emergency inhaler. I give Jehovah Ropha–the Lord our Healer all the credit.

Congrats on your word count and having a different editor interested in your work. That's fantastci!

My concern right now is finding my writing feet. Since I've submitted my novel to my agent, I feel like I've been floundering. The second story in my series isn't gelling so I'm wondering if it's even worth writing. I switched to a trade size novel I'm planning to pitch at ACFW in September.

No wonder you had strange dreams last night! Too many kidlet shows! πŸ™‚

Keep us posted on how little man is doing and what your Dr. finds.

Very cool to hear that another publishing house is interested! Are you excited about this one, or would you rather hold off on the first? That's always tough isn't it?

And you are totally rockin' this summer with your WIP! You are inspirational in how you jump in and work on your books! Makes me want to get going on my next one! πŸ™‚

My concerns? Well, I'm just so dang busy with kid activities and driving everyone everywhere, that I'm finding myself struggling for time to get my writing work done! Hopefully we'll get into a routine and I can find a little more time! Wouldn't that be neato? πŸ™‚

Your so close, Katie! I'm sure you'll be announcing great news soon enough!

Sorry your little one is sick. Hope he feels better.

You're doing great with your writing goals. I've got some aggressive ones this summer too.
