Cares:
Go check out Novel Matters – a blog by six ladies, all of whom are published and agented by the lovely Wendy Lawton or the lovely Janet Kobobel Grant from Books and Such Literary Agency. They offer prizes, insights into the writing life, and even a super cool contest twice a year (spring and fall) called Audience with an Agent. Great blog all around.
An acquisitions editor expressed interest in my novel. Currently, it’s waiting to be reviewed by her editorial team. If it makes it through editorial, it goes to Pub Board. Where does that leave me? Riddled with doubt. Waiting. And writing. Thank God for writing.
Concerns:
I can’t find my wedding ring. This is nothing new. However, it’s been a week now and it still hasn’t revealed itself.
All the door knobs in my house are on backward. Random, yes. Funny, no.
Celebrations:
My son is walking! More like running. He sort of skipped over the walking stage.
I’m going to go watch my brother dance tonight at this local Dancing with the Stars fundraiser. He’s a bit of a celebrity in these parts. He’s doing the jive. He’s actually a ridiculously good dancer. You’d think fighters wouldn’t have much rhythm.
Ever seen the New Moon trailer? If you haven’t, what planet are you living on? If you have, you HAVE to watch this. It’s hysterical. Absolutely hysterical.
Question to Ponder: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations this Friday morning?
That's very exciting about your book, Katie! Keep us posted. Have a wonderful start to your week!
That trailer was hilarious. π I hope you find your wedding ring. Yay for your son running! π

Waiting is so hard, but the writer's life is full of it. I'm glad you're using the time to keep writing… it's the only way to deal with it. And I hope you find your ring. That's a worry for sure.
My cares and concerns? I'm praying that a special writer friend will find a way to overcome depression and finally be able to finish at least one of the several novels she's started. It's so important to her but not being able to do so keeps her in a downward spiral.
Katie–COngrats that a publishing house is looking at your book!! Whoohoo! I'd be so happy!
ANd your son is running! Now the chasing begins. LOL
Same care and concerns here -that I either get a job or God provides another way to exist:)
Hey friends! I just came to check out all the awesome comments and realize I put the acquisitions editor thing under concerns when I meant to put it under cares. I hope nobody thought I was being unappreciative…although the waiting definitely is a concern for all of us, I think. It's so hard to be still and know that HE is God. I feel more pressure now, too – now that I have an agent. It might not make sense, but feelings rarely do.
Thanks for your comments. I truly love reading your 3 C's every Friday. I feel as if I get to know you better, which is a fun thing. Enjoy your weekend!
your little guy is walking? Wow. Mine took forever to find their feet. That is great! Now the Christmas tree will never be safe again… or the dog.. or the… you get my drift:)
That is soooo exciting to hear about the editor news. That was quick out to submission. Rachelle knows what she is doing, so relax. That book will sell in God's perfect timing. God didn't bring you FAB AGENT just to shelve your book in the bottom draw. He already sold it, you are just waiting to hear to whom π
I'm excited for you about the editor news! Now you can join me in my wait. π
This metaphor of the editor as groom coming to sweep a writer off her feet with a ring in hand scares me. Be cool, sista. LOL!
I'm so excited for you on your publishing journey!!! I'm sure an editor will sweep you off your feet soon π The ring is coming….just be patient!
Care – My son has had a flawless week at school and I hope that it happens next week as well.
Concern – I'm about to enter editing mode on my new novel. AHHHH
Celebration – My son had a flawless week at school!! Can't explain the magnitude of that awesomeness, but it is definitely cause for celebration!
Good luck on the wee one walking. It's a curse and a blessing all at once. π
Your little man is adorable! I can just imagine him running his first steps. I hope you find your ring soon. Have a great weekend!
Katie, it was not a good week. My celebration is that my sinus headache is gone, my computer virus has been eradicated, and I'm minutes away from making tacos.
cares? No way. I can't even think about the annoyances of this week one more minute.
concerns? Nope. It's the weekend!
Get out the videorecorder and catch that little guy on it!
Funny spoof. Hooray for Brogan walking. Now the fun of chasing him really begins.
That's great news that an editor likes your book! Congrats! (Hey! That's a C!) The waiting is hard, though, isn't it? Hang in there.
I hope you find your ring too. Have a great weekend.
One concern. Book one is being considered by editors. They wanted to see book two. YIKES! Not as polished! Subject to change. Oh well. Book two is now in their hands. Stomach hurts.
Cares: Feeling better and recovering from this nasty virus.
Concerns: Missing WIP. It's hard to derge up the energy to write. I don't want to fall too behind in my goal.
Celebrations: My husband and I are doing The Love Dare and we are falling deeper and deeper in love! Every couple should try it.
Now that little man is running you are in for some real fun Katie! Praying for all the success with editor viewing your novel!
I am preparing to send out my first query letter next week. Concern/nervous/excited/etc. Hope you find your wedding ring :O)
Hey, Katie!
I love that blog! It's definitely one of my favorites!
Yay that Brogan is running! That's so fun.
I'll pray for peace in the waiting for you. I know how hard it can be.
My cares: I still need a place to live, roommate, and the support to do these things. By January. It's all coming together slowly but surely. I'm thankful God's got it or else I'd be stressing out!
Have a great weekend!
I'm SO glad you posted that New Moon spoof. It cracks me up every time! In fact, Joel and I started laughing out loud in the movie theater once it got to the part where she got her paper cut, oh my goodness. Good stuff.
Cares: Got into a bit of a fender bender last night with our first snowfall. I'm annoyed with myself…I'm from MN for crying out loud!!
Concerns: My friend had her baby on Wednesday. They have known for months that her kidneys are severely enlarged, probably due to some sort of blockage. Initial tests after her birth seemed to look good, though. However, the hospital apparently made a mistake in reading the tests because now they are saying she's in really rough shape and will likely need surgery ASAP instead of in a few months. I can't imagine going through an entire pregnancy worrying about this, and then to go from rejoicing to worry/tears again because the hospital goofed.
Celebrations: It finally snowed!! And it's lovely. Plus I'm thankful my little accident wasn't any worse. Lots of really bad accidents last night.
Looking forward to seeing you in the next couple months, Katie!
xoxo

Yay for Brogan and that trailer was sooo funny! I hope you find your wedding ring. I lost mine earlier this year and my oldest daughter finally found it after I'd broken down and bought a new one. Well, now I have two!
Cares – I just made Snickers Cheesecake for a special dinner tonight. I hope it turns out all right.
Concerns – This potty training thing is disastrous. Ugh. It went so well with my first!
The doctor said my hubby either severely sprained or broke his foot π
And…my manuscript. Oh, I am loving it but I am working through editing and the closer to I get to potentially querying it, the more nervous I get.
Celebrations – Other than hubby's foot, everyone in the house is finally healthy after close to a month of sickness. Yay!
Have a great day!
LOL. I think the hamster was totally hawt! And for the record i never thought I'd say that and mean it lol.
Concern- Please God don't let this craft fair I'm hosting backfire into nothingness.
Care- Ditto above.
Celebrations? His mercies are new every morning.
Your three C's is such a great idea. Hope you find you ring! And keep us posted about the editor thing.
Going to watch the trailer now… I saw the movie last weekend. Loved it!
Happy Friday!
Waiting…ugh. I reek at waiting. π
Yay for the little man. The next Usain Bolt. π
π Hope you find your wedding ring. I keep my wedding ring and engagement ring on all the time. It's the only jewelry I wear because I can't leave off fiddling with earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
Congrats to your little boy, I can't imagine the joy a mother gets in watching her son learn how to walk and run…
Maybe one day, when I am a mother π
The doorknob bit made me laugh. Oh, the randomness of life.
Congrats to your sweet boy. What joy he must feel. "Ah,now I can check everything out. I can go!" π It must be like getting your first car. π
And sorry about the ring. I hope you find it and soon.
Concern? My son.
Celebration? GULP–I've finally decided to query my MG story for real.
Have a wonderful weekend Katie. Kiss that little sweetheart for me. He's gotta be smiling at his new wheels. (His feet.)
Dude. That pec-flex thing in the video is the funniest thing I've seen ALL WEEK…
Yay for high-speed toddlers!
Why is it that when I watched the video I kept thinking of the writing on the back of trucks…I you can't see me, I can't see you…or something or other. YOU crack me up for posting that!
Cares: Whacking the heck out of my WIP.
Concerns: Time management and my husband's job stress.
Celebrations: I didn't kill my dog. "Santa" left the advent candy in a precarious spot and the dog ate all three M&M packages, but didn't die. Cause for celebration! π
That's all I've got for you this week.
Go Brogan, GO!
~ Wendy
Katie, love love this blog! I too succumbed to the daily count–just in page form. Otherwise, I clicked on "Word Count" a billion times in a fifteen-minute period.
My concerns? Sigh. Many friends with needs that are pressing against my heart. Sons with addiction. Illnesses of the head and body kind. Continued waiting for a VIP call…
Sigh. Luckily the work goes on! Have a cool library appearance at Goosecreek Township Carnegie Library tomorrow. How dy'a like THAT name????

Katie: I've experienced these same concerns since aquiring an agent–odd, isn't it? I agree, "Thank God for Writing!" It keeps me sane. Wait, did I say that? It makes me crazy. Well, both.
I will gladly babysit Brogan anytime you like… I miss my 3 grandbabies who left Sunday. We only see them 3-4 times a year. Sniff!
I am concerned over a decision we need to make, that I feel forced into. I hate that feeling, so want to be wise, not just react to my perceptions. We need to hear from the Holy Spirit.
Love you,
Jen
Audience of ONE
the video is hilarious π hope you find your ring soon.. I lose mine all the time too.
I think my son skipped the walking phase too. Only instead of running, he went straight to climbing. Just wait for that one…then nothing is off limits! π
My 3 C's? Right now, I'm too tired to think of them so I guess that alone qualifies as my 3 C's (since it means I have a "celebration" in my belly). π
Okay, I'm speechless. This is way too funny!!! Must show my family this one when they wake up. We've got them all home from school today for a family Christmas shopping event. They'll love to see this to start it off.
Congratulations on your baby's first steps. I loved the spoof. The flexing pecs. The morphing into a guinea pig. Will have to show this to my Young One as we are both Edward fans.
What a funny spoof! I especially like the flexing of the pecs.
Waiting is no fun at all! I'm pullin for you!!!
I'm editing, editing, editing. My concern is the lack of time I have to devote to what I really want to do, which is edit more quickly.
SO exciting about little man running!!! FUN stuff!!!! He's so adorable, Katie:-)
Oh… we have a VERY strict "Do NOT touch the tree" rule at our house. They all got a firm hand slap when they were little for doing so… and it stuck with them through the years. They are HUGELY mindful of it. It's kinda weird… to be honest.
SO SO SO excited about the interest from an editor! I'll be praying a TON about it!
Care: It's FRIDAY!!!
Concern: You're waiting on pub board, I'm sniffing everytime I check my e-mail, hoping… praying… for good news. But alas… none yet.
Celebration: It's a secret:-)
Your little guy is running just in time to get into the Christmas tree, right?! My tree hasn't been neat and tidy in ages! By the end of Dec. I'm SO ready to put it away because of how shabby it looks! My six year old is really in to playing with his ornaments this year. He takes a couple off at a time, plays with them, then rehangs them. You can only imagine how that looks?
Have a great weekend, Katie! And I wish we could sit at Panera together too!
My concern is that I had all night to write last night, and I didn't. So, I'm wondering what is wrong with me. Grrrr…
Yay for Brogan! And I'm sorry about your wedding ring. I've lost mine a few times. Once I lost it while we were on vacation. I kept searching the condo and the day we were packing to leave, I found it.
In the lint trap. No kidding.
I hope you find yours.
Also, woooooooottttt! on the editorial board. π This is great news!
