3 C’s – It’s Friday!

Cares:
One of my friends found out on Sunday that her husband of seven years had been having an affair for two months. You can imagine what’s she’s going through at the moment. She has started an anonymous blog called Shards of a Broken Life where she’s journaling about her experience. She has decided to journal publicly because she’s asking for prayer. Prayer that God might restore her marriage and get her through this. This is a great opportunity to minister to a wonderful woman who is feeling very broken at the moment. If you have time, please consider stopping by her blog and offering prayers and encouragement.

Concerns:
The Doritos in my cupboard are stale. Tragic, right?

I’m slowly starting to wean my ten-month old son. Pumping three times a day while I’m at the conference in Denver doesn’t sound too time-efficient. I’m sad. How is he already ten-months old? Yesterday he was hiccuping inside my womb, today he’s learning to drink out of a sippy cup, and tomorrow he’ll be off to college.

Celebrations:
Brogan has turned this major corner when it comes to eating solid food. It was just like WHAM, I love everything now, Mom. Avocados, cottage cheese, fruits, veggies, you name it. We cut them all up and feed them to him while we eat dinner. He scarfs it all down like a champ. The only thing he doesn’t like is juice. He makes a ridiculously hilarious face when we try to sneak juice in his cup. Who doesn’t like juice, anyway?

I’m feeling more confident (and overly excited) for the conference, which I will leave for in a little less than three weeks!

Question to Ponder: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations on this cool, rainy Friday morning?removetweetmeme

    T. Anne – thanks for your prayers and so glad your house is safe! Yikes!

Thanks for your prayers on behalf of my friend, Diane.

Nicole – thanks for your prayers. The weaning definitely is difficult! He's so active these days that nursing is the only time I can get him to cuddle. πŸ™‚

Jeanette – how fun about the new laptop!

Weronika – I'm very glad he eats. There was a while there where I thought he might be a picky eater, but not anymore!

Katie, I shall pray for your friend, but I couldn't bring myself to follow her blog — it's too painful.

As for Brogan, be glad he eats. The juice is inconsequential. πŸ™‚

Oops, I mean celebrating. See what I mean about typing on this wee keyboard?

Katie: I will visit your friend's site and pray for her, too.

I think it's great that your Doritos are stale; it means you don't have time to eat junk foods.

Brogan is growing fast. What a joy they are at this age. I know you cherish every moment you have with him.

I am celbrating my new laptop the Lord provided for me, and trying to learn how to type on a Barbie sized keyboard!

I'm so sorry for your friend, Katie. My prayers are with her.

As for weaning, you poor thing. I loved nursing my son! It's hard to give up. But the next stage is fun, too. Walking, talking, developing an independent personality… Enjoy!

Very sad for your friend. I pray God's restoration ability for her marriage and true repentance for her husband.

  7. T. Anne

I am going to check out your very brave friends blog. Already I am lifting her up in prayer. Our God is so big and so awesome, nothing is beyond restoration with Him.

My Care- School is starting and I don't want to let go of this last morsel of summer.

Concern- why some people turn to stone (emotionally) right before my very eyes.

Celebrations- My house did not burn in a fire that came very close yesterday. Praise you Lord! (I love Him so) =)

Kristen! I accidentallly skipped over you in the comments. Thanks SO much for offering your support and prayers for my friend. I'm so glad you made it back to the states safely. I can't wait to read more about your trip. And yay for the MC revelation!! Those are always exciting!

Jody – I hope you have a very blessed, relaxing, fun time with your family!

Heather – happy birthday to your mom! Have fun celebrating! And thanks for the prayers for my friend.

Jessica – I used to get cavities when I was little and the dentist told my parents I drank too many juice boxes. So you're right! Maybe he hasn't inherited my insane sweet tooth! A girl can hope!

Ralene – thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I know she appreciates them. ABout the juice…I always do one part juice, three parts water and I've tried apple, prune, and white grape. He doesn't like any of those. Thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks Tabitha – she can use all the support she can get right now.

Wendy – thanks for offering your encouragement to my friend! I know she appreciates it. School and soccer…busy, busy, busy! I hope you settle well into the new routine. And my prayers go to you and your family members. Happy birthday to your dad!! I'm glad you like the 3 C's on Friday. I know I truly enjoy reading updates on my cyber friends' lives. πŸ™‚

Erica – I think it's SO cool that you put deadlines in your celebrations! Way to look at things from a positive perspective. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Jill – I'll pray you and your new schedule become friends quickly and painlessly! I'm hoping 10 months is a good time for weaning. He's doing just fine…I do worry sometimes if he's getting enough milk. How's a person supposed to know?

Carrie – have a super duper relaxing vacation!!

Beth – you made me snort out loud with your pun! Halarious! So sorry about your back pain. Back pain is the WORST pain because you sort of use your back for everything! Praying for healing!

Cindy – isn't that one of the best feelings?? Congrats to you for your productivity!

Elana – yay for pay day! And yuck about the taxes. That's never a fun chore!

Tara – thanks for offering your support! I know she's very appreciative. I'm excited to read about your celebration on your blog. And thanks for the interesting trivia fact… that's actually good to know! Keep trying and trying and trying (and trying 27 more times).

I stopped by your friend's blog. At least she has decided to use an outlet to get out the feelings she needs to express.

I posted my celebrations on my blog today–I didn't want to take up too much space.

And yeah on the solid food progress. I heard the other day that it can take over 30 tries before a baby decides to eat one item.

  11. ElanaJ

    Congrats on your 3 C's.

Cares: my sixth grade son needs to pick up the slack or he'll be behind.

Concerns: my taxes still aren't filed.

Celebrations: I got paid today after a VERY long month!

  12. Cindy

Happy to hear about your celebrations with Brogan!

I was concerned about how well I was managing time but now I am celebrating because I see how much progress I am making!

  13. Beth

I'm so sorry for your friend, and I'm on my way over to her site right now.

I remember when I weaned my little guys:( The pumping sucks (sorry for the bad joke!). But I'm so happy to hear that your little guy has a healthy appetite! Count your blessings he doesn't like juice – my kids' teeth are going to rot out because they drink TOO MUCH! πŸ™‚

My only cares and concerns are my BACK! I'm in pain, and that's never fun πŸ™

    P.S. Stale Doritos ARE tragic!

  14. CKHB

Ugh, pumping… hang in there! And how awesome about his willingness to try so many new things!

    My celebration… vacation next week!

  15. Jill Kemerer

    So sorry for you friend.

Yay! On Brogan's big-boy eating! 10-months is a really good time to wean. You can still have cuddle time!

Cares: Next week starts my new schedule.
Concerns: Next week starts my new schedule.
Celebrations: Next week starts my new schedule.

Sorry, but new schedules throw me off and delight me at the same time.

    Have a great weekend!

Man, that's so rough. I had a similar experience with a friend just this past weekend.

Cares: Getting everything done before my folks come in one week. I'm deep into edits on two novels (one has a deadline of Tuesday! EEK!)

Concerns: That I'll get everything packed for my trip.

Celebrations: My parents are coming, I have book deadlines, and I'm going on a trip! πŸ˜€

Woo Hoo to the avocados! I'm heading to your friend's blog next. I like to encourage.

Cares: School starts next week (and soccer) so we'll be thrown into a whole new routine.
Concerns: My family members struggling w/ illness.
Celebrations: My dad was diagnosed w/ lung cancer last Oct. and his birthday is tomorrow!

Thanks for doing this on Friday!

Hey, Katie! I am praying for your friend. My heart breaks for her.

Right now, I'm celebrating making back to the States in one piece! Even my luggage made it a few days later. The suitcase is damaged so now I get to take it back and see if they will repair it. But hey, I'm not stranded in a foreign country. That's a great feeling!

Also, last night my newest MC told me her name! Woohoo! Of course, it opened up a huge tangle of possibilities that I need to wade through. It was fun falling asleep with that in my brain! It's gloriously gloomy here today, which means plotting will be even more fun!

That's it right now. I still am in a time of decision making, but it's been on hold for a bit thanks to jet lag. I'm enjoying just "being" while I can!

    Have a great weekend!

I'll go stop by your friend's blog. I hope she feels the support she needs. I will be thinking of her.

Call in the coast guard…the Doritos are stale. I repeat, THE DORITOS ARE STALE! πŸ™‚

I'm sorry about your friend, I recently had an aunt go through the same thing after twenty-some years of marriage. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with her.

Do you water down your juice? And is it citrus? Citrus juice may be too acidy…peds. doesn't recommend cirtrus juice (like OJ) until they are 2. If it's regular juice and not watered down, it could be just too strong for his taste buds. You may fiddle with how much you dillude it. Just some ideas… πŸ™‚

  21. Jessica

Trust me, it's better to wean now! I pumped on my cruise and it was horrible, plus my milk had a hard time coming in when I got home. He'll probably be fine being weaned too. πŸ™‚ Esp. since he's eating all that other stuff.

I'm so sorry about your friend. That would be a nightmare. πŸ™

Your lucky he doesn't like juice! LOL It's mostly sugar anyways. Heehee. btw, I don't care for juice, so ha! πŸ™‚

  22. Heather Sunseri

I'm really sorry about your friend's troubles. Prayers her way!

My family is preparing to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. And it's going to be a major celebration.

  23. Jody Hedlund

What a praise about Brogan's eating! I'm sure you'll have times when you struggle again, but you can gain confidence that he'll get through it! Weaning is such a hard stage, but I'm sure you'll be glad that at the conference you don't have to worry about all of that!

I'm celebrating three of my children's birthdays and have family visiting and am just downright busy! But it's all fun!
