The hero from my debut novel is Boyfriend of the Week on Edgy Inspirational Romance. Hop on over to read some of my favorite Evan-moments from the book.

Let’s Talk: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations this week? I love when you share!

I was interviewed on a church blog in Texas. Melissa, the children’s ministry director, asked some really great questions, like who’s my favorite Bible figure and why. Hop on over for a chance to win a signed copy of my debut novel

  1. […] 2012, we finished our home study, put together a huge fundraising event, got matched with a two-year old Congolese boy, lost the referral, watched from afar as the country […]

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts – both about our fundraiser and our little guy. He’s MUCH better and the fundraiser was amazing! A huge relief that it’s over and so humbled and grateful for everyone who participated.

Thanks so much for sharing your 3 C’s! I love getting these little glimpses into your lives. I feel like we’re sitting down, having a quick cup of tea/coffee together. 🙂

  3. Brogan is getting so big! Pray he feels better soon.

  4. Katie,

    Okay. I have a “dumb” question….

What happens if I place a bid and do NOT win the item I bid on? Do you still get the money? Is there a way to put that money towards something else?

Okay. That was three questions. But maybe you can answer them all with ONE answer….

    My 3 Cs
Cares: Getting baby goats ready to sell
    Concerns: Hubby new career direction
Celebrations: There is are baby cobs of corn on the stalks, tomatoes beginning to turn, pumpkins, cucumbers, squash, beans, herbs, apricots, plums all doing what they’re supposed to do – growing where they’re planted. Like I’m supposed to do. 🙂

  5. I’m praying for your fundraiser! And your sick little man. 🙁

Cares: I need to be in Super Melissa mode this weekend. Praying God gives me an extra burst of “you can do this”-ness. 🙂

Aw, poor Brogan! Hope he gets feeling better soon. I can’t believe how tall he’s getting…look at those legs dangling off the bed!! Praying for your fundraiser, chica. God has laid this passion on your heart…He will come through for you guys!

Cares: This minivan hunt is driving me insane. Guess that’s what you get when you take two geeky people and start comparing prices, mileage, warranties, etc. Joel has multiple spreadsheets going…graphs and all.

Concerns: Joel’s dad is in his final days. We’re heartbroken, especially with baby on the way. Just trusting God to take him peacefully when the time comes…his body has been through so much.

Celebrations: Lord willing, we will be in our happy place on Lake Vermilion by this time next Friday. Yessssss.

    Love, H

  7. Praying you have a fabulous fundraiser, Katie!

Care: Finishing up my ms–for good…well, for now–finally, tomorrow!

Concerns: Trying not to worry about a few writing-related things.

Celebrations: Date night tonight! And hubby is planning it. I’m not sure what we’re doing. Yay! This hasn’t happened in, like, forever!

  8. Aww…poor Brogan (and mom and dad!). Strep stinks no matter what age, but when they’re so little, it’s especially rough.

Cares & Concerns: I was diagnosed with skin cancer this week. I have yet to actually say those words outloud. Still in a bit of denial but working on it.

Celebrations: I am having surgery on July 12th…so I’ll be getting those evil cells out of my body! Also today is my husband’s birthday – good excuse to eat lots of cake 🙂

  9. You do have your plate full, Katie! I hate it when those little ones are sick, but at least strep is readily treatable. Praying your little man is feeling better soon and you have a fabulous fundraiser. “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him” (Psalm 37:7).

  10. So sorry about your little guy!
Just bid on something for your fundraiser!
Can’t wait to hear about how successful it is.

  11. Awww, your poor little man! What a sweet face he has. How exciting that your fundraiser is finally here! Praying God pulls out all the stops for you and your family. As for me…

Cares: Looking forward to lots of time with my sisters and families this weekend in Galveston.

Concerns: My heart is heavy after losing a dear friend to cancer. He knew Jesus – that’s what makes it better.

Celebrations: See “Cares” above. 🙂 Hugs!

  12. Oh, my goodness! I am praying for that fundraiser – and now for your little guy! I hope it exceeds your expectations!

Cares: There is significant flooding in northeaster Minnesota (in and around Duluth) that happened quite suddenly from a horendous storm that covered most of the state a few days ago.

Concerns: We’re waiting to hear from the bank about a new mortgage on our house…long story, but hopefully it turns out well!

Celebrations: I’m heading out to an overnight retreat with my MOPS Steering Team tonight! It should be a lot of fun!

    Good luck tomorrow!!

  13. Cindy R. Wilson

Oh my gosh! Look how grown up your little guy is. Wow…time sure goes by fast.

Cares and Concerns: So much to do, so little time!

Celebrations: My little one just turned one! We’re having her birthday party this Saturday, couple with another birthday and Father’s Day – because this was the only time we could get everyone together. Oh, and another birthday party on Sunday. See? Busy 🙂

  14. Feeling for you so much w/ your little guy, the crashing computer, and the fundraiser. Praying too.

Cares: Last day of school. Little one goes off to school full-time next year.
Concerns: Remaining in God’s truth. Constant struggle lately.
Celebrations: Love, love, love my ending in my WIP. Have tackled lots of edits. Have two people to crit. Feeling good about the future!

    Love. You!
    ~Wendy

  15. Fundraiser–woo-hoo!! I hope it brings in more than you imagined! *hugs*

Sorry about your little guy. Strep can be funny. Within 24 hours of antibiotics, we usually feel ourselves again. Hoping the same goes for your cutie!

My 3-C’s are all about this move. It’s been a very stressful 6 weeks. I’m not going to have a kitchen for 3 weeks, and now we might not have flooring for part of our move too. Calgon…take me away… 🙂

  16. Hope the B-man feels better soon. I know how nasty strep can be. Praying your fundraiser will exceed your wildest expectations.

    My 3 Cs:

Cares: Hubby is waiting to hear about a new job–praying for God’s open door.

Concerns:Recently-graduated son #2’s decisions about his future.

Celebrations: God’s faithfulness even in the midst of my doubt

  17. Cares: friend’s baby, little Gracie Mae, born this week with a heart condition. Please pray for her.
Concerns: my three sons aren’t walking with the Lord. They are my concern EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Celebrations: all six of us are employed (down to the 13 yr old daughter who is babysitting her summer away). In this economy, we find that a cause for celebration 🙂
Praying for your fundraiser and your little man. What a cutie, even with strep throat. Lots of hugs, popsicles, and movies with mommy should make him all better.

  18. I know he’s sick, but that picture is so cute. Hope he feels better soon!

Care: My new class is gearing up for new & growing believers.

Concern: My carpal tunnel is acting up and I really need to finish this ms to send off to CPs.

Celebrations: My DH is having a birthday at the end of the month and I’m planning a par-tay! 🙂

I’m praying for fabulous fundraiser, Katie! Beyond what you may have ever dreamed!

  19. Care, Concern, Celebration – I’ve had this dry, swollen eyelid thing going on. Annoying and NOT PRETTY. But I’m on the road to recovery.

I’m nearing the end of two days of loud, banging roofers on my house. They’ve created a huge mess, but my roof looks pretty (hard to get too excited about a really expensive roof, though). Hoping they take their mess with them when they’re done.

Celebration? I’m in a super, duper happy place with my current manuscript!!!

Praying for a successful fundraiser for you, sweet Katie!! And I hope little man feels better!!

  20. Awww. Poor little B-Man!!
He needs a smile drawn on his mask.

Doesn’t the enemy love to kick us when we’re on the verge of some hugely big God-things?
Hang tough Katie, and Katie’s menfolk, God is IN the auction, He knows the number of hairs on your baby’s head. He has His plans for you, all laid out in His hand.
No matter how the fundraiser goes, His glory will blow the obstacles out of the water.

    My 3C’s?
Care-I’m editing right now. Going from iffy omni to well written 3rd /multiple makes me feel worn out.
    Concerns-Katie Major. Nuf said.
Celebrations-my son graduated from high school last night!!! The “reviews” from his teachers let us know what a great kid he is and how they will miss having him around. Awww.
