3 C’s – It’s Friday!

Friends helping me put together silent auction baskets at my mom’s house

Cares:
Our big fundraiser (a silent auction/trivia night) for our adoption is next Saturday. Can’t go? No worries! We made the silent auction viral by setting up a new website. Please stop by and take a look at forty really cool items/baskets up for bid. All proceeds will go directly toward our adoption. Online bidding ends next Friday, June 22nd.

You can also participate via Facebook. I have a photo album set up, so it’s super easy to share individual photos on your timeline or the entire album!

Concerns:
What if nobody comes to our fundraiser? It seems like so many people I talk to have a prior engagement. I’ve been on my knees praying about this. Not so much that lots of people would come and we’d raise what we need for our adoption, but that I’d surrender the worry. Lately, I’ve been really convicted about my tendency to worry, worry, worry. 1 Peter 5:7 has become my battle cry.

Celebrations:
I’m celebrating some amazing warrior friends, without whom this fundraiser would not be happening. When we bring our little one home from the Congo, I hope they realize what a huge role they played in making us a forever family.

Brogan’s celebrating an adorable book called Scaredy Squirrel and I’m celebrating the Cadbury chocolate we got in the mail from a certain awesome someone. Yum, yum, yum!

I’m camping out tonight with 10 junior high girls and 2 awesome ladies. We’re eating S’mores and sleeping in a tent and everything.

Let’s Talk: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations today?

I’m guest posting on Michelle Lim’s blog today about the rejections Wildflowers from Winter received before it found a home. I hope it will encourage those of you who are feeling discouraged on your writing journey. Hop on over and leave a comment for a chance to win a signed copy!

  1. Yay, Katie!I love the baskets! Best wishes to you and your new little one! My dad was adopted, and I loved my “gramma with the sensible shoes” so much. I have wonderful memories of coloring at the table, and sugar cookies, and that crazy yellow canary she had. You’ll be that gramma some day 🙂 I don’t have $$$ up front to bid on baskets, but I am selling Tastefully Simple (just for fun) now. I’d be glad to do an online fundraiser for you. No work for you except to pass on your fundraising link to your friends, and you make 20%. Have fun with your silent auction!

  2. My first 3 C’s with Katie Ganshert!

Cares: My husband is ubber busy right now with his landscaping business, which is a huge blessing financially, but makes for a looooooooong summer with the four kiddos. I’m trying to support him as best as I can, while being honest when I need him to put down the work and be with us. He’s trying his hardest to do both and I don’t want to add more stress to his shoulders – it’s a balancing act.

Concerns: With all the extra work, my hubby has hired two full time employees and two part time. This is the first year he’s hired full time people and there are so many new concerns that go with that. We’ve both felt lead to hire these two people and I know in my heart that it means great things for the business, but we’re walking in faith.

Celebrations: Yay! This means my hubby should have more time to relax and be with the family (I hope, I hope, I hope!). He’s becoming more and more aware that our children are growing up and the stakes are high – we only have them a short while before they are on their own and he knows how important it is to be present in their lives. I’m celebrating this milestone in our business and our family life!

I’m also celebrating my friend Katie Ganshert and her novel success! 🙂 I was so happy to post a review for your book on my blog and on Amazon! I’m praying for your fundraiser and for the child who will fill your arms and your heart to overflowing!

Yay! I love your very first 3 C’s and hope you come back each Friday this summer to keep sharing. 🙂

I can understand why the hiring would be stressful, but wow! That has to be a good sign, right?

      1. It is a good sign – and one that we needed after a stressful year financially – we stepped out in faith and bought a new house when we hadn’t sold our first one. We carried two mortgages for a year, but we sold our other house a couple weeks ago and we’re having a record breaking year with the business. It’s like a weight has come tumbling off our shoulders. God is good and His timing is perfect!

  3. So glad you brought the fundraiser online. I’m praying with you that it is a huge success!
My Care this week: My husband’s office has a team walking in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life tonight — all night long! So, it’s gonna be an all-night walk-a-thon to raise $ for cancer research in honor of friends who’ve battled cancer.
Concerns: Still dealing with vertigo.’Nuff said.
Celebrations: Life is good. God gives us lavish grace. And friends. And His mercies are new every morning. And there’s always a reason to laugh.

    1. Katie Ganshert

      Ugh – vertigo – no fun. 🙁

I love your celebrations. And how cool that your hubs is being a walking man for cancer!

  4. Pumped it all up but didn’t post the link – what was I thinking???

  5. Hi Katie,

Cares: Posting (the goal is by noon…) a BOB on your book today! And praying for your fundraiser!

Concerns: Hubby’s truck (our only vehicle) is in for a potentially major repair job. Miracles are needed time-wise, money-wise.

Celebrations: Keli Gwyn’s new website! I LOVE that lady….

    1. Katie Ganshert

Okay….am I having a blonde moment? I have these a lot, especially when I’m sleep deprived. But what is a BOB?

      Thanks for those prayers.

Car problems are the worst. Just lifted a prayer up for you, Becky.

I love Keli too! AND her new website! Both are beautiful. 🙂

      1. Oops! I think I’m having a blonde morning myself! Babbles of a Bibliophile is a post on my website – I babble about books I’m reading. Usually about controversial stuff, not necessarily a review. Then I link people to other people’s reviews of the book about which I’m babbling… I’m babbling, aren’t I?

This morning I’m babbling about Pastor Fenton today. GRRRR.

      2. Katie Ganshert

Sweet! Make sure to let me know when you post it!

      3. Duh. A BOB is a haircut.

      4. Tee-hee. A bob: (^^)

  6. Care: Trying to finish up my ms before we go on our cruise!!

Concern: Just feeling discontent in my job situation (the location is moving, I want to be writing more, yada yada). That verse in 1 Peter is a good one to remember, as I tend to be a worrier too.

Celebration: Um, I have all day tomorrow to write!

    1. Katie Ganshert

Woohoo for full days of writing.

I know exactly how you feel with the job-situation, Lindsay. Keep praying and listening. God will guide you along the best pathway for your life -Psalm 32:8 Cling to that verse, friend.

      1. Thanks, Katie! I hadn’t remembered reading that verse before. It’s so good! Wrote it down and stuck it on a post it to my computer at work! Hugs!

  7. Praying for the auction and AWESOME results. 🙂

My care and concern are wrapped together in one package today–a family member I’m worried about.

    My celebration…oh, it’s Friday! And today, that’s enough. 🙂

    1. Katie Ganshert

      thanks for those prayers, Melissa!

Hoping things turn out for the best with your family member.

  8. Praying for you and great success with the auction! 🙂

I’m celebrating with you AND today is my son’s 8th birthday!

    1. Katie Ganshert

Happy birthday Miles (right? I was thinking you have a sweet little boy named Miles….if I’m wrong and I just made that up in my head, sorry!)

  9. I’ll be praying with you! I love this entire walk for you.

Cares: Packing up & wedding bound tom.
Concerns: My mom gets tests results back for MRI either today or Mon. I really don’t think I can handle it if it comes back positive for a tumor. Too many in my family.
Celebrations: God. That He still is willing to LOVE me, teach me, laugh with me. Excellent book club discussion last night (Man, was I out late). Love the book I’m reading. Hmm. YOU!

    ~ Wendy

    1. Oh Wendy. My prayers are with your Mom and your family.

Isn’t it a blessing to know that God loves tolaugh with us? I’m glad He does, or I’d be toast.

    2. Katie Ganshert

Oh no – Wendy. What’s going on with your mom? I’m going to call you today.

I love your celebrations. Love love love them. And what is this book? I’m having such a hard time settling into one lately.

      1. KATIE!

CELEBRATION: Mom just called & no tumors on her MRI. Crying happy! Praising our LORD!

Love you lady. Your friendship means so much to me!

      2. Oh, I’m so happy to hear that your mom’s test results came back clear today, Wendy!! Hallelujah!!!

      3. Thankyou Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!

      4. Katie Ganshert

I echo what Jennifer and Gabrielle have said!

  10. I’m celebrating with my friend, Katie Ganshert, because she and her family are getting closer and closer to adding a special miracle. And I’m celebrating that God brought her into my life. Blessed all around! 🙂

    1. Katie Ganshert

Thanks for celebrating with us, Jennifer. What’s really going to be off the hook is when we get the referral and then what’s REALLY going to be off the hook is when we travel! Love all your support!

  11. I linked your adoption …link…on my Facebook page. Oh, I know all about nerves before a fundraiser. But remember, God is IN this!! No matter what, He has your back.

Cares: My girl, as always. That I can build some physical strength in 33 days.

Concerns:See above-God has OUR backs. No matter what His, kingdom will be glorified and your children will play together and fight and laugh and share cookies and books. And I will get to Bolivia, debt free and well supported by all kinds of people. Big and little donations all melted together.

Celebrations: I AM GOING TO ARIZONA AND NEW MEXICO!!!!! Book research and road trip with 2 friends who have an *in* with the Navajo tribe.

You like Scaredy Squirrel? Did you know there are 3 more books?? Cadbury is Greek for “manna”.

    1. Have fun in AZ, Jennifer! I live in Phoenix. 🙂

      1. WHat? I’m going to Phoenix!! We should meet up and play Barbies!!

      3. I emailed you…the trouble begins!!

    2. Katie Ganshert
