Television Romance

There are a million and one TV romances out there. But here are a few that have caught my attention through the years….

Come on, fess up. Who used to watch Saved by the Bell? In my preteen days, Zack and Kelly were the bee’s knees.

In college, all the girls on my dorm floor would get together and watch Dawson’s Creek. I was totally Team Pacey…

Also Team Ben. But I really liked Noel too!

I dare you to watch these two and not smile…

Rory Gilmore and Logan Huntzberger. Sigh. Why did Gilmore Girls have to end!?

Ultimately, my allegiance lies with Stelena.

My new favorite! Just started watching Friday Night Lights and I’m in love with the relationship between Coach and his wife. In. Love!

Let’s Talk: What are some of your all-time favorite TV couples?

For a chance to win my debut novel, Wildflowers from Winter, hop on over to Casey  Herringshaw’s blog, where I divulge my favorite part about being a debut novelist.

If you’d like to purchase my book, you can do so on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or these other retail outlets

If you’ve read the book or are currently reading it, Christian Fiction Book Club is discussing it online for the entire month!

For all you local folks, my book launch party is tomorrow at Books-A-Million in Davenport from 1-3 pm. I’d love to see you there!

  2. Okay Katie, this has nothing to do with couples…but I went to the bookstore and SQUEALED when I got to the G section. Hmmm. What DID I buy?? Goyer? Not today. Gunn. Not today.

I may be up all night.

So exciting!!!!!!!!! I hope you like it!

      1. I KNOW I will, you had me at the awkward hair problem!

  3. This post is SO MUCH FUN!
Who didn’t love Zack and Kelly? (I now enjoy watching Tiffani Thiessen as Elizabeth Burke on White Collar! El and Peter–now THERE’S great couple!)
Love, love, LOVE Jim & Pam.
I get sad even THINKING about the Gilmore Girls because of the horrific way it ended.
I also loved Corey and Topanga, Sydney and Vaughn, Lois and Clark (the original with Dean Cain), Chandler and Monica.
These days it’s all about Stelena (sigh), Leslie Knope and Ben (Parks & Rec), and Booth and Brennan.
I MAY have a TV addiction.

I really liked Chandler and Monica too! Maybe even more than Ross and Rachel!

  4. Hi Katie!

I watched Saved by the Bell too! And USA High! LOL.

But one of my absolute favorite TV couples were Will and Lisa on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!!! 🙂

And a couple that I loved and wanted to see get married and have kids (but the series ended without that hope) were Michael and Nikita from Le Femme Nikita! Even Alias and Covert Affairs don’t hold a candle to that series– sheer brilliance and such great chemistry between the actors who played Michael and Nikita.

Speaking of Covert Affairs, I’m hoping Annie and Auggie will become official in the next season (starting this summer 2012)! 🙂

Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there…..

      Loved that show!

  5. Holy moly- Logan and Rory???? YES PLEASE. I loved Gilmore Girls and was really disappointed in the ending. How could she have said no to him?????

You have no idea how much I agree with you here, Jenny! So so SO saddened with the end! In my head, I imagine a season 8 and they reunite.

  6. Zack and Kelly!!!! Aw…

Cory and Topanga were my favorite TV couple when I grew up.

    1. Katie Ganshert

Cory and Topanga!! Totally forgot about those two!

  7. Matthew and Mary on Downton Abbey!

You’re making me want to watch it! I didn’t know there was a romantic element to Downtown Abbey!

  8. I either don’t watch much TV, don’t watch much romance, am too young, or all of the above (likely). Because only two of the shows sound familiar and I haven’t seen any of them.

However, I admit to Doctor/Rose shipping in the BBC show Doctor Who. Not to mention Marian/Robin shipping in the BBC Robin Hood show, but I always ship Marian/Robin…

I’m trying to remember if “ship” is a British word for this or a young word for this. I already admitted to being young, though, so I suppose I’ll leave it.

On an unrelated note: I’ve really enjoyed watching as Wildflowers from Winter has released!

Thanks R.G.! I totally know what you mean by shipping. I was actually going to use it in this blog post.

  9. Wow. May I just say thank you for making me feel absolutely ancient. Is Friday Night Lights still on? Or you watching re-runs? I love that show. Of course you know I have to say Matthew and Mary from Downton – but I’m still not sure how I feel about Mary. Some days I just want to smack her one. My other fave couple is on Bones. Haven’t watched it in a while though so I have no idea what’s going on. My generation watched all the old nightime soaps in college – Knots Landing, Dynasty, Dallas. Oh those were the days!!!

    1. You HAVE to watch the Bones season finale this Monday! Even if you haven’t seen it in a while. They have a baby, and a bad guy is coming after them. And Booth will get to protect his FAMILY, and there’s just nothing more attractive than a hot man protecting his family, amiright?

    2. Katie Ganshert

Nope – not still on. A friend just introduced us to it and we LOVE it! I’ve never watched Bones. And I haven’t jumped on the Downtown Abby fan wagon yet.

  10. I loved so many of those shows!

  11. I’m such a nerd, but I loved Clair and Cliff Huxtable! I always thought their marriage and parenting skills were amazing! 🙂 My parents didn’t have cable television until I was in college, so I grew up watching old movies from the library – which I absolutely loved! I still DVR movies on AMC & TCM chanels and don’t watch much television…I must admit, I DVR the Cosby Show. 🙂

    1. Katie Ganshert

Clair and Cliff! Totally NOT a nerd! The Cosby Show remains one of my all-time faves!

  12. Gilmore Girls! I’m so happy you mentioned it! But my favorite couple was Luke and Lorelei…loved those two!!

    1. Yes. They were great!!

    2. Katie Ganshert

Oh – I forgot about Luke and Lorelai! You know…I also really liked Lorelai and Christopher, too!

  13. Nerd Alert!! Nerd Alert!! Starbuck and Apollo from Battlestar Galactica.
I’m going to go back under my rock now…

    1. Katie Ganshert

Love that you are a nerd!

  14. I also adore the Coach and Tammy. Was so so happy there was finally a programme that actually made being married look like something to aspire to, not like either boring monotony or the death of both peoples’ dreams!

I have to say my all time favourite is Lucas/Peyton on One Tree Hill. Along with Nathan/Hayley. Again another series where marriage wasn’t mocked and people actually faced the reality of consequences to things the world like to sell as “live in the moment and just have fun”.

    1. Katie Ganshert

I forgot about Lucas and Peyton! I loved One Tree Hill. Didn’t watch all the seasons. Liked the earlier ones better!

      1. Kara I

Have to admit – I’m struggling to finish of the last season. It definitely lost its magic after Lucas and Peyton left 🙁
