Come celebrate the holidays in Peaks with Bethany and Robin every Wednesday until Christmas and tell us what the holiday means to you.
Join us (Bethany, Robin, and I) as we discuss our fondest childhood traditions, those extra meaningful (or slightly odd) holiday decorations, and our favorite Christmas music and movies.
Each Wednesday, I’ll be giving away a fun Christmas goodie (perfect for stocking stuffers), several books by talented authors, and a copy of my debut novel, Wildflowers from Winter, to either keep for yourself or give as gifts to friends or family members.
The final Wednesday, December 19th, will be the Merry Christmas grand-prize giveaway, which will include:
- Two Christmas ornaments
- A DVD of It’s a Wonderful Life
- A CD of traditional Christmas music
- The ADVENTure of Christmas by Lisa Welchel
- A Wreath of Snow by Liz Curtis Higgs
- A Sweethaven Christmas by Courtney Walsh
- Christmas in Apple Ridge by Cindy Woodsmall
- Postmark: Christmas by Darleen Franklin, Kathleen E. Kovach, Paula Moldenhauer
- Central Park Rendezvous by Kim Vogel Sawyer, Ronie Kendig, Dineen Miller, and MaryLu Tyndall
- Wildflowers from Winter by moi
I’m looking forward to kicking this Christmas season off with you this Wednesday as we talk about ornaments.
Until then, happy decorating!

I had a very different, but very enjoyable Thanksgiving. My best friend of almost 40 years and her daughter don’t live in our hometown anymore, but they were here to take care of some personal family business. We observe different holiday customs, and my friend has been following a vegeterian diet for a while. However, true to the wonderful person she has always been, she cooked me a full Thanksgiving dinner–most of which she could not eat. I feel very blessed and very loved!

For Thanksgiving it was just my hubby and I. I roasted a turkey and fixed all the trimmings. My were we full! The left overs were fabulous! They are gone now. I was smart and only bought a small turkey 8-9 pounds. I love the smell of turkey roasting in the oven!
Blessings!
Judy
I spent Thanksgiving at my house with all the family…I cooked enough food for a army…….had oodles of fun….
We had Thanksgiving dinner (supper) at my house for the first time in a few years. No, I did not cook the turkey; we bought a smoked turkey and folks brought more than enough food for a Thanksgiving feast!
[…] Originally, we were going to purchase two. One for today’s giveaway, and one for the Merry Christmas grand prize giveaway. […]
Hey, Katie! We had my parents and in-laws over for lunch. Other family came in the evening for games. Friday we hunted our tree and then went to my aunts for more family fun. Looking forward to Wednesdays here!
we had dinner here with a few friends. my extended family cannot get along at all so we all celebrated seperate this year.
I so enjoyed reading the chapters of your new book, would love to read the rest. I shared the link to your page because I couldn’t figure out to share just the chapters.
Thanksgiving we spend the day with our son’s in-laws. This is the 4th year we’ve done that and we enjoy it, they welcome us. The first two we still lived in Kansas and drove up one year and took the train the next. Brought grandkids with us both times. Lots of fun both trips.
So glad you enjoyed them, Cherie! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Sounds like you had a very blessed Thanksgiving!
katie am I suppose to share only the chapters of Wildflowers in Winter or the whole article? Maxie
Hey Maxie – just the chapters is great. If you click on the link that’s labeled “these chapters of Wildflowers from Winter”, it should bring you to the chapters. You can then copy the URL and share however you’d like – whether that’s an email to a friend or on Facebook or Twitter. Hope that makes sense!
We helped serve a Community Thanksgiving Dinner. My husband visited with members of the community that came for dinner, I helped serve pies. There were homemade baked goods, cookies & bars and donated pies. There were so many leftover pies, we were begging people to take them home. My husband and I got one for ourselves, (there is only the 2 of us) and I got a large one for a neighbor who has 6 kids. They were very pleased to receive it.
It was just my hubby and me and he just wanted to watch football all day. So….we decided to have HungryMan Turkey TV dinners. They were pretty good and no big mess of cooking or clean-up. The only problem was…..NO LEFTOVERS! The next day we had a houseful when both son and daughter and their families came and decorated my house and put up and decorated the tree.
On Thanksgiving we stayed home and enjoyed LOTS of wonderful food. It was nice to have a quiet day. Our youngest son is 19 and works at a grocery store so having him home was nice. We ate turkey for the next four days in varying ways: turkey spread, turkey and gravy over rice, turkey sandwiches. My husband suggested turkey omelettes but I said no thank you!
We went to spend Thanksgiving with my brothers family and had so much fun!
Unfortunately because I work in retail I really don’t have holiday celebrations anymore:( I worked and then went to my in-laws but by the time I got there most of the food was gone…lol. I did read a couple great books that weekend though:) Would love to win some of these prizes. What do you need to do?
Toni – I think that is so sad that Black Friday sales are now starting on Thursday! I really think Thanksgiving should be Thanksgiving and Black Friday should be on Friday!
To be entered in each of the giveaways, all you have to do is answer (posed at the end of each Wednesday post) in the comment section. If you answer every single Wednesday, you will be eligible for the grand prize! So just make sure you check in every Wednesday. The easiest option might be to sign up for my blog posts to come via email. That way you won’t miss anything. 🙂
Spent the day with family and friends. Celebrated x-mas with out of town family. Two holidays wrapped into one! Stuffed ourselves full. NO FOOTBALL!!! Yeah
Our daughter and her husband flew from OH to see us in FL. She is 7 months pregnant and we got to feel the baby kick! There was so very much to be thankful for.
Sounds like there were a lot of great Thanksgiving celebrations going on! Love reading all the comments. 🙂
I had a very nice Thanksgiving. Enjoyed all of the blessings and being thankful for so much.
I had a very nice Thanksgiving. I only had to make the mashed potatoes. Put them in a crock pot to keep warm and take them to a friends for dinner. Enjoyed a great dinner with old friends.
Thanksgiving was spent with family in Maine – too much food, but great company 🙂
Spent Thanksgiving with the in-laws. Much fun.
This was my 1st thanksgiving alone, I’m divorce as of the 26 of this month after a 43 year marriage. it was loney but made it thru
Prayers for you, Pat. That had to be very difficult.
I went and visited with my in-laws. We had a good time with leftovers that lasted us until Saturday!
Yes, our vegan turkey was so yummy… we are sad to have finished the left overs already!
I got to spend Thanksgiving with my mom for the first time since I left home at 16. We usually visit each other either before or after the holidays so this was a nice treat. And yes, I was one of the crazies out on Black Friday. I am an English as a Second Language Instructor and so I always take my students out. What a blast we had!!
We had 15 people at my house for Thanksgiving, including 2 sets of 4 generations! There was lots of good food, conversation & of course football! Cant wait to do it again at Christmas.
We had a quiet Thanksgiving lunch with a smoked turkey and rice dressing.
It was a really productive weekend for me. I wrote about 7 scenes over the weekend. On Thanksgiving, I went to my dad’s and hung out all day, then Friday we shopped. It was really fun. But everything went so quickly!
We went to my in-laws and it was very nice. 😉
I actually worked on Thanksgiving…the nonprofit I work at serves and delivers over 2,200 meals each Thanksgiving, so this was my holiday to help. I’ll admit, I was sad about missing my big family get-together, but it was pretty cool to see the joy on so many people’s faces at our ministry…and then after the day was over, I hit the road and drove six hours to my sister’s house to spend the weekend with the coolest nephew ever. 🙂
Ooh, Wednesdays are going to be so fun around here! I’ll be sure to stop by. 🙂
That had to be a very satisfying way to celebrate the holiday, Melissa. Your nephew is the epitome of adorable!
Getting excited about your book 2 coming!
Went to hubby’s grandma’s place for turkey day. Ate well. Put up our tree yesterday.
~ Wendy
We put our tree up yesterday too! Glad you ate well, Wendy-girl.
I’m Canadian, so Thursday was just a day. BUT , for our Thanksgiving, I did the mondo grande 24 lb turkey, stuffing, mashed white carbs with no food value whatsoever, tonnes of veggies, and desserts. Did I mention DESSERT? Cheesecake, white chocolate macadamia cranberry cookies, apple pie and ice cream and mmmmmm. We had 5 friends over, plus us 6, and ate like our elastic waist pants were up for the challenge.
*We celebrate Thanksgiving in October.
I’ll be at your house next October. 🙂
Sure. YOU bring the American Diet Coke!!
