  1. For me, an author is someone who’s first inner thrills came at the sound of “once upon a time”.
I am thrilled that I’ve been given the ability to be someone who gives away my own “once upon a time” thrills.

  2. Someone who just can’t stay away from the written word, who is drawn to it, who feeds off of it, who sees the beauty in language.

A good Author is some one who makes a book very interesting, exciting so the reader won’t want to put down the book. And also how the writer portrays themselves with the people in the book that they have written.

Thank u Katie for making books that are interesting to read. May the lot continue to bless u in your upcoming new book that u are writing. God Bless!

  4. An author is someone who writes, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, and whether they are traditionally published, self-published, or not yet published. Although I’ve been writing for over 25 years (mostly Bible studies and Sunday School literature), it was a long time before I was comfortable calling myself an author. Not sure why, but that just seemed to be what other writers were, not me.

  5. I thought about this question a long time, and struggled with defining what an author is. But your question helped me get clear about what inspires me to be an author.

Some days it’s really hard. Most days, it’s pure joy. So much of what I produce is pure crap. Fortunately, it generally ends up on the on the editing floor, and only my laptop, my editor, and I ever know about it. I’m so fortunate that some of it actually makes it into a story, and the story becomes a book.

Each time one of my stories becomes a book, my deepest hope is that it will touch the heart of every reader. And that’s my inspiration… that you will be touched.

  6. An author is someone daring enough to put themselves in print for the world to see.

  7. I love a good salad with Italian dressing. When I shake up the bottle, myriads of particles dance in the oil until I pour them onto some leafy greens. I see authors like that. Inside their heads, ideas and words and inspiration are waiting to be poured out. If you can take what’s in your head, and use it to flavor the lives of others, then you are an Author 😉

An author is someone who loves to read various genres. She/he has character plots and conversations dancing in their head. The store, park, family gathering, church, or restaurant are venues at which the author listens, watches, and records ideas for future stories. Then the fun begins as the story starts to play out on paper 🙂
