3 C’s – It’s Friday!

Cares:
In the spirit of Follow Friday, may I recommend my critique partner, Jeannie Campbell’s Character Therapy blog? Jeannie is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She does mad assessments for fictional characters on Tuesdays and posts a Therapeutic Thought on Thursdays. She’s venturing on a cross country move this weekend (her second in one year) and will have to spend two and a half weeks without her baby girl. Please keep her in your prayers as her family makes such a huge transition.

My 5th grade class is sneaking inside my heart and taking hold. They might be a little (who am I kidding…a lot) high maintenance, but they sure are lovable. There’s this one girl. She’s like my secret soul mate. We sit behind my desk and read her stories together. I teach her all kinds of advanced writing techniques, like deep POV and stimulus-response. It makes her feel special. Talented. Grown-up.

Concerns:
At daycare, my son hit a little girl twice and made her cry. This is no way to treat a lady. He’s one year old and already poking at boundary lines to see who’s boss. Top of my prayer list: guidance and wisdom. Ryan and I have no clue what we’re doing 93.5% of the time.

All the excitement this week has been super fun. However, I need to harness the energy and pour it into my WIP. Enough celebrating. It’s time to get back to work. I wrote 2,000 words yesterday and hope to keep the trend going.

Celebrations:
You all made my good news so much sweeter to share. I count each one of you a blessing and I can’t wait until the day I get to return the blessing and celebrate with you! If you’re not quite sure what I’m talking about, see Wednesday’s post.

Not to get all 5th grade girl-lingo on you, but one of my BFFs is coming to visit this weekend. Every time we get together, we pig out at Sonic, eat blizzards from Dairy Queen (with extra candy of course) and spend the entire time immersed in girl talk. She even brings her black lab to have a weekend-long play date with my black lab. Fun times all around!

Question to Ponder: What are your cares, concerns, and celebrations this Friday morning? Please share! I always look forward to Fridays. I love reading your comments and getting to know everyone better.

Hi,I came here via my pal Cindy's blog. First off, I am praying for Jeannie. She did a character assessment for me last week. It was wonderful and she's providing us with such a fantastic service. So yes! I know about her move and will definitely be praying.

Secondly, CONGRATS! I can't wait to get THE call. I wish could submit to Rachelle, but I write MG and YA. Anyway, congrats again. I know you gotta be on CLOUD 100!

Thirdly, 2000 words?? You go girl.

Way to go with the writing!!

May your son discover cat fights soon enough to scare him away form hitting anymore girls. LOL. Oh, the lovely chore of raising our young ones. Certainly keeps us on our toes, Katie!!!

Cares: do I have the skill to be the writer of the book I have inside me?
Concerns: Oh gosh, that list is too long!
Celebrations: YOUR NEWS! Gosh, I have been telling everyone I know! I can't wait to hear that your book has sold!

    Have a great weekend.

    Hey, Katie!

I am so thankful for my friends. And for little moments that are just perfect.

My cares/concern would still be that I'm waiting on God for a living situation come January.

    Have a great weekend!

Oh Katie, I was so happy for you about Wednesday's post and your wonderful news I had to tell my hubby! It still makes me smile.

I will definitely continue to pray for Jeannie and I love that you're able to make special time for some of your 5th graders, especially teaching that little girl extra about writing.

Cares: My little ones are growing up too fast. I feel like I need to spend more time with them.

Concerns: I haven't been feeling very well the last several weeks and my energy has been low. I am hoping for helpful news from the doctor and praying for more energy.

Celebrations: NaNo is going okay in spite of the low energy and it's almost Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving.

Have a wonderful weekend and congratulations again!

Cares: I forgot my lunch. And now I'm going to be hungry.

Concerns: I'm getting a revision memo on Monday and I wish I had it now!

Celebrations – I signed with an agent too!!

    Have a great weekend!

I'm like soooo excited for this weekend!!! (I gave you my best 5th-grade girl lingo), ha. Yay, Sonic! Yay DQ! Yaaaayyy Gansherts!! Can't wait.

By the way, Joel is very sad to be losing both of us to IA this weekend. He's taking Taylor everywhere he goes today because he knows they'll be apart for a whole 36 hours once we leave [gasp!]. It's pretty cute.

    See you soon!
    Love, H

again, congrats on the representation! rachelle is one lucky lady to have snapped you up so fast. you're going places that only God knows the destination….but it's going to be such a fun ride (for both of us!). πŸ™‚

Cares – I've had some health issues (hopefully minor!) crop up that have me following doctor's orders to rest. Not so easy with a two-year-old.

Celebrations – My family gets to enjoy our last quiet weekend at home before the holiday craziness kicks in. πŸ™‚

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I've been horribly absent all week from everyone's blogs, but I saw your news on Wednesday and haven't had a chance to jump up and down for you until right now!

I'm just grinning! Think of this year. How many times you've prayed for this. Dreams DO come true! Congratulations!!!

  16. Wendy @ All in a Day's Thought

I've been enjoying Jeannie's blog. I love picturing you with that little girl. My 5th grade teacher was cranky, but I clung to her during recess anyway. You must be a fabulous, loving teacher!

Once again CONGRATULATIONS about being agented. I dreamt of Bono last night (not a romantic dream, but he did tell me he loves me). I'm thinking it might happen. πŸ˜‰ Then, get this, I told him I'd see him in heaven. I've concluded once I polish my WIP I'm going to start dreaming about specific agents. I like that method. πŸ˜€ You deserve this, Katie.

Cares: We have a very very very very very long car trip coming up next week.
Concerns: We are having friends over tom. night for dinner and I think we planned on grilling out. Grilling out in Nov.? Not sure what we were thinking. Oh, and of course my house is NOT clean. I also really want to write 5,000 words to finish the rough draft of my WIP in the next few days. Which brings me to…
Celebrations: I'm only 5,000 words shy of my first draft of novel #3 being written.
I'll also add, I'm celebrating with YOU. I can't imagine how good it feels for you.

    Have a great weekend,
    ~ Wendy

Cares: My daughter is getting so big! She's a very shy girl but loves going to school anyway, and now regularly mixes French & English while playing with us at home, which just blows my mind. I know languages are easier for young kids than grown-ups, but still. She has a perfect little accent and everything! Squee!

  18. Jody Hedlund

Wow! 2000 words yesterday! That's awesome! I'm so proud of you and totally happy for all that is happening with your writing career. Have a fun weekend with your friend! I'll be sitting in the library plugging away at rewrites!

  19. Jessica

Woot, sounds like you have a great weekend coming up!
I so feel you about your son. My son got his first red light at kindergarten yesterday. The teacher said Matthew has been acting up and not listening, and then yesterday he was playing and bit another kid. Not like a big bite, it was a playful thing… but still. Grrr. Like you, my hubby and I can only pray for wisdom and then guess at the right ways to handle this. I'm praying he'll get a green light today. πŸ™‚

Celebrations: I feel like I'm finally moving forward with my WIP! Oh, and hubby sold two houses. Thank goodness! We needed some mula. LOL

  20. Tamika:

Happy Friday Katie! I smile just thinking of your wonderful news.

Cares- Reigning in my word count. I'm feeling the NaNo pressure too soon.

Concerns- A dear childhood friend of my husband passed away last night. Hubby is having a hard time.

Celebrations- Thinking of your recent good news reminds me to keep pushing for my dream.
