A Romance Blossoms

A Romance Blossoms

Sometimes, romances aren’t fair. We become attached to the hero and heroine. We root for them to get together. And just when they finally profess their love, the story ends! If you’re anything like me, you want the story to keep going. You want more.

Well, here is my attempt to give you more. Wildflowers from Winter may have ended, but Evan and Bethany’s relationship sure hasn’t!

Pull up a chair and join me as I interview these two love birds.

First Impressions…

I started with a simple question. “What did you think of each other when you first met?”

Evan and Bethany exchanged knowing smirks, as if daring the other to go first. Finally, Evan motioned toward me with an upturned palm and raised his eyebrows at his wife. “Ladies first.”

“Coward.”

Evan’s smirk turned into a laugh. “She hated me.”

“You hated me first.”

“I thought you were cute.”

“Yeah right!”

“I did. I thought you were very, very cute.”

Bethany dipped her chin at me. “He thought I was a snob.”

“Not a snob. Just…..” He squinted at her from the corner of his eye, a crooked smile pulling up one corner of his mouth. “Uptight.”

“You are such a liar.”

“See how much she loves me?”

Falling in Love…

“Speaking of love.” I removed my pencil from behind my ear and poised it over my notepad. “At what point did you two fall for each other?”

“That’s easy,” Evan said.

Bethany quirked her eyebrow. “It is?”

“Of course. I fell for you on the dance floor at Shorneys.” He looked at me. “She’s not a very good dancer.”

Bethany rolled her eyes. “Not everyone is born with freakishly good rhythm.”

He laced his fingers through hers and kissed her knuckle. “So when was your moment?”

“When I fell for you?”

“Yeah. You’ve never told me before.”

Bethany tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “When you swept Robin into your arms and carried her to my car.”

Evan gave her a disbelieving look. “No, it wasn’t.”

“Really. That was the moment you made me go wobbly. Completing the fall took a little more time.”

She Said Yes…

“Okay, now for the really fun question. When we end the story, you two are obviously in love.  Evan, how long did it take for you to pop the question and how did you do it?”

Evan groaned. “It’s totally not romantic.”

“Yes, it is,” Bethany said. “It was perfect. You bought me a horse.”

“Afterward. To make up for my lameness.”

“It wasn’t lame.”

“I didn’t even have a ring yet.” Evan turned to me and shook his head. “She just doesn’t want to hurt my feelings.”

“When have I ever been afraid to hurt your feelings?”

“It was at Caleb’s first birthday party. I already knew I wanted to propose. Gavin and I had been brainstorming, trying to figure out the most romantic way to do it. Robin was helping me design a ring. And Bethany comes to the party all triumphant because some contractor had hired her to design a restaurant. It was her fist big project since moving to Peaks.”

“When I told him, he hugged me and twirled me around. I felt like a princess.”

“And then I blurted, ‘Let’s get married.'”

“Just like that?” I asked.

“Just like that,” Evan said. “In front of everyone.”

Bethany patted his leg. “See? It was perfect.”

“We got married four months later. Right here on the farm.”

A wisp of a smile brushed across Bethany’s lip. “My brother walked me down the aisle.”

Starting a Family…

“Okay, last question.” I pointed my pencil at Bethany. “What did Evan do when he found out you were pregnant?”

Bethany rested her hand over the subtle roundness of her belly. “He knew before I did.”

“How does that work?” I asked.

Evan draped his arm over the back of the couch. “She took the test, handed it to me, and then she buried her face under a pillow.”

“I didn’t hide under a pillow.”

“Yes you did.”

Bethany gave him a playful nudge. “At least I didn’t jump on the bed and announce we were having a boy.”

I closed my notepad. “Are you?”

“We had the ultrasound last week,” she said. “Only the ultrasound technician knows.”

Do you have any questions you want to ask Bethany or Evan? If so, feel free to write them in the comments. They both told me they’d be more than happy to answer them.

So what was your first fight as a couple and what was it about.

Oh goodness, I don’t remember! I’m sure it was about something silly.

  2. OK, Bethany, now that the baby’s on the way, are you going with a good old-fashioned rural homebirth? Or, did Chicago make you feel like you needed something a little more high-tech? This Childbirth Educator is dying to know 🙂

Bethany: I think I’ll stick with the hospital.

Evan: You sure? I’ve delivered a few calves in my day. Babies can’t be that much different.

Bethany: *blinks at her husband, then at Michelle* We’ll be going to the hospital

This is great but after all these two went through they just had to get married. Looks like they are having fun with all that came before.
Will they be in the next book or is this all we will know about the?
Thanks for letting me read this.
